New Pages for Season 2019/20 Onwards Can't Post or Reply Privately

I think this is for Steve.
As the Rugby Union and Rugby League pages are getting so long would it be possible to close what are in current use and start again with new pages?

I can do if that is the general consensus, I assume you mean the Where are you going threads.

I would just point out that (a) logged in members are taken to the first unread post so it really doesn't matter how long the thread is and (b) there are other threads on the board that are over twice as long as the rugby ones.

On a more general note I would be very interested to hear any suggestions for new forum sections.
For example the Restructuring forum could be split into General Restructuring Discussion, Next Seasons Pyramid Discussions or the General Discussion could have sub forums added for different Leagues ie a National League section, Southern League section etc aswell as the General discussion section. Those sub forums could even be added to for individual clubs if requested with their own moderators as a lot of clubs don't have a forum these days.

I haven't given it much thought, just thinking out loud so any suggestions welcomed to add a bit of new life to the general layout.
Cheers... Steve

After The Library can we have a section for New Publications. I have twice recently stumbled on books that I didn't know had been published - one two years ago.

An excellent idea. It could also be used for letting people know where old / antiquarian football books are available. For example, I saw a copy of the Pa Jackson book in a shop recently: a must have title for the serious football book collector.

I too haven't given it that much thought, though my gut feel is that there isn't much that needs changing, but it's always struck me that information of a lasting value could be given more prominence. Whether that just needs a sticky or a section of its own I'm not sure.

Just as Hoddy has developed an excellent and easy-to-find reference section for all the 3G grounds/pitches in the UK, supplemented by posts or discussions of potential new ones, something similar might be handy for, say:

- ground moves, new grounds, grounds under threat
- FA league allocations
- applications for promotion from step 7
Or anything else of a lasting value/useful reference over a season.

I know we do cover this stuff already but it tends to get buried amongst the predictions, or spread over multiple sections, or the trail goes cold for a month or two then new/duplicate threads covering the same (but not quite the same) emerge etc. Just feel it'd be good to give long-lasting and continually-evolving subject matter such as this more prominence, keep it all together and make it easier to maintain or follow.

I find a little frustrating that news about league constitutions gets buried amid the restructuring discussions.

Could we instead have a separate section for confirmed league/divisional constitutions for the new season? One thread per league?

I think the Restructuring section definitely needs some sub forums.
When you are making suggestions please bear in mind that we don't want to just dilute existing forums. I don't want 10 forums that get a post a day just for ease of access, I would rather have 1 forum with 10 posts a day.
So what we are looking for are new forum sections that would attract new discussion or a logical splitting up of existing forums that would make sense since theren is a high amount of discussion already that merits its own forum or sub forum.
If that makes sense at 1am when I am posting this Pirate

Think the gist of the previous couple of posts is to somehow separate the real stuff from the pretend stuff that's currently all sloshing around together in the restructuring section (and often within one particular thread). Unpicking news on constitutions and applications for promotion etc can be a bit of a slog if you're not interested in predictions. And vice versa too I imagine (...might be useful to get some ideas here from those who are mainly interested in the projections).

That’s exactly what I was getting at. Somewhere with confirmed constitutions as they’re decided ahead of a new season. Bit like the content of the summer leagues thread.

There’s a heck of a difference between ‘real’ stuff ‘pretend’ stuff & ‘not validated’ stuff. I don’t mind getting criticised for posting before the constitutions are released & I won’t do this anymore! The only error I made, was that ‘all step 6 bottom placed sides were relegated’. I did get told quite quickly that I’d misheard what was said. I could’ve changed the post, but by then the thread had spiralled down. I will still continue to post any restructuring information that I get hold of. I’m also not going to insult or attack any other posters(I hope the mods are listening).

Bizarre outburst, especially as you seem to be implying that something I posted almost a week ago was referring to something you only posted subsequently. I'm not psychic!

FYI - projections (as per the title of the thread in question) are, by definition, predictions or pretend. You might have more chance of being listened to if you address what this thread is seeking, namely suggested improvements to the structure of the forum. Including restructuring the restructuring section! I'd have thought you'd have some ideas about that, being one of its most regular users.

I wasn’t directing the post towards you. It was a general statement. As for moving forward, too many General Discussion threads seem to have appeared on the Restructuring section. As for anything else, personal insults should mean long bans. Too many threads on different sections have gone this way.

The Restructiring section has been spoiled due to all the speculation, predictions, rumours and general rubbish that has permeated there in the last 18 months or so.

Can't we keep that section to FACTS and palm off all the other stuff in to a Fantasyland section?

What do you classify as a fact? I usually class it as something that is truthful. The whole projection thread isn’t factual. So move that to the General Discussions section & rename the section as League Constitutions section. Close the threads as soon as the constitutions are set & only open them if a team folds. If there’s anything about restructuring, then discuss the restructure on a specific thread & don’t confuse it with projections. Stick to the restructure & how it will effect clubs & leagues. Guessing were clubs will be placed is projections!

Not really New Pages but not worth starting a new thread for a simple question.

Many members are into European domestic cup competitions and having just posted the draw for the DFB Pokal I find because of no edit facility I will not be able to add results/attendances etc that can be done on our County Cup section. Can anything be done to rectify the situation?

They are also listed in the International Domestic fixtures 2019/20.
I am sure they will be updated when poss with new rounds added.
In the meantime I think I'll start a new thread for Mongolian Cup, hopefully someone will keep it updated for me.

Perhaps a sticky sort out is needed then perhaps people would know there is a Fixtures International (Domestic) thread and not start individual threads re all things foreign.

July 1, 2019 to June 30,2020 = 87 / 75 / 12 / inc 3 x 0-0's. (You know my rules) @ 14 / 10 / 2019.
2019/20. Benelux = Bel = 0-0-0-(I(MUI-I)-0-0)-(0-2-1-1)/ Lux = 0-2 / Neth = 0-0-0-(1 - 2) Others France = 0-0 / Germany =0-0-0 / Italy =0-1(Act 2- Frosinone new)./ Iberia = P = 0-0 & S = 0-0.
