It would appear that the Gwent County League is changing its name to the above next season;

... and, more disappointingly, clubs are being restricted in the number of cup competitions they are allowed to enter;

Newport & District Premier X Champions Whiteheads Rhisga have been denied promotion to the County League, according to their twitter because they played two home games late in the season away from their normal venue, after being asked to do so due to a fixture backlog.

Whether their story adds up or if there is more to it than that I don't know.

It is madness, whatever, given the shortage of clubs in the Gwent League at the end of the season and starting next season.

RTB Ebbw Vale have extensively developed their Hilltop Ground during the summer;

Can anyone confirm that this will be their main base rather than Eugene Cross Oark?

Answering my own question, it certainly is beginning to look like it;

Speaking with a Gwent FA committee man at Rodney Parade today, he said that Mathern had folded.
