Club announcement: Match Day Programme Forfar Athletic Directors have somewhat reluctantly taken the decision to join an ever growing list of SPFL clubs which even included last season one from the Premiership in deciding not to publish a match programme in the season ahead. There are three main reasons behind the decision made by ‘Loons’ officials 1) Poor sales which have fallen in recent times year on year to now unacceptable level. Many clubs experience a similar problem. 2) Lack of volunteer contributors despite strenuous appeals over recent seasons, meaning a struggle for meaningful copy. 3) The advancement of websites, social media outlets etc which now mean that the vast majority of supporters are kept abreast of club news/affairs on a daily basis. Forfar Athletic were one of the last of the old SFL clubs to introduce a regular match day programme, the first for a league game at the commencement of the 1975/6 season with current Club Secretary David McGregor as Editor in chief. Since then around 950 editions have come off the printing presses and it is slight disappointment that at present we will not continue to the 1,000 mark. The Station Park board would like to put on record their thanks all who have contributed in any way to the production of the programme over the years, as well as the many companies both local and national who have provided supportive advertising revenue. A special word to Dave Barber who has collated and edited the programme over the past two seasons. Apologies to those who will be disappointed with this news but you never know, it may be reversed at some time in the future and it is certainly not a decision that in years to come is as they say ‘cast in stone.’

I believe the only programme they produced before then was for the 1969/70 Scottish Cup tie against Rangers.

I'm sure they will re-issue if they get a one off game Rangers or Celtic in one of the cup competitions

According to the Sunday Post of August 4th 7 clubs are not issuing paper programmes in 2019/20 ... Livingston, Ross, ICT, Forfar, Queens Park, Peterhead and Brechin I wonder how many of these clubs still have a matchday raffle or 50/50 draw? The point I'm trying to make is that the lucky number could be printed on a basic 4 page black and white programme. Doing that would just cost time and money. Clubs will get their tickets printed at the start of the season in bulk at a low cost. If folk didn't want a half decent programme they won't want a 4 page throwaway one. From what I know Forfar and Brechin give away 2 sided A4 team sheets with some news on it. QP have a standard 1 sidesd teamsheet cost 10p. Ross County give away teamsheets don't know about ICT Livi disabled supporters Association were getting printed copies done for sale on Saturday of the online programme.
