Smaller Goals in Womens Football? Can't Post or Reply Privately

Chelsea manager Emma Hayes has clearly forgotten that her team began the season with three consecutive 0-0 draws and has called for the size of the goals to be made smaller in womens' footballShocked.

Imagine the flack a man would get if he'd made that suggestion!

If all women's games were unusually high scoring, then maybe it would be worth thinking about. As that doesn't seem to be the case, it isn't.

She mentions that women keepers get flack and suggests it's because the goals are too big. I think goalkeeping is an area in which women's football is lacking but it's not because of the number of goals scored, it's because of handling errors when they CAN reach the ball. Nothing to do with the size of the goals.

She hasn't forgotten the 0-5 home drubbing against Arsenal, though ;)

I think it's the main area which has been improving, especially now that the full-time clubs (presumably) include goalkeeping coaching as part of their set up.

(Hopefully we now don't have a World Cup littered with keeper howlers!)
