Are any of the Lowland League in serious danger then? ie they are unlikely to have floodlights by 01/06/20.

Vale are the only one's in danger, I'd say.

Heading to Glasgow in a couple of weeks. What's the situation at Cambuslang? I noticed you visited recently and they were in a mess. They have a home PSF coming up so have things improved for them?

Cambuslang are struggling committee wise. It was a miracle that they survived a mid-season crisis last season. The people who came forward to save the club are now finding that the reality of keeping a club going is very hard. I'm sure they will start the season and I really hope they will finish it - that's about the best I can say!

It's a ground that anyone MUST visit.

So too is Maryhill, a club in a similar situation to Cambuslang. Kept going by the skin of their teeth and now relying on the committment of the volunteers who came forward at the end of the season. Hopefully their enthusiasm lasts.

Thanks for the info, I had read what they put on the site but always good to get things from a neutral perspective. I will certainly now give them a visit with the added bonus of decent pub and station nearby. As long as I doesn't rain on the parade a grand day in Glasgow awaits.

What is the relegation rules from the LL next season? If Vale are outside the relegation zone & lose their licence, will a team in the relegation zone be reprieved? If another Highland League team won promotion to the SPFL2 & the relegated team was placed into the LL, then how will this effect the relegation issues from the LL?

Far too early to say. The LL haven't had time to consider the implications of the June 1st 2020 deadline. I'm sure it will be discussed at their next meeting, in August.

I was pleasantly surprised to discover Bonnyrigg Rose listed as a LL club in the list of clubs in the Scottish Cup. I checked the LL website and it seems that they were granted SFA membership in June and accepted into the LL thereby. thus relegating Whitehill Welfare.

Bonnyrigg Rose are listed in the LL fixtures on the LL website. last seasons league table is still displayed, and Whitehill Welfare are listed on the EoS website.

Has the LL held their meeting in August yet & was the question raised?
Looking at the early weeks in the LL, EOSL & SOSL. Which teams are looking the strongest?
I see Berwick Rangers have had an inauspicious start to the season. Is it looking grim for them, or are they waiting for players to come back off holiday’s?

Patience please. I didn't miss your last post. I was simply too busy to reply.

Nothing has changed. LL clubs require to have an SFA Licence. No reason to think any current LL member clubs will lose their licence during 2019/20. Vale are due a licensing review soon - presumably they will be told then that they have one year to get their lights or they will lose their licence at the next review.

Relegation rules are as detailed on the LL website, Section 29 of handbook.

Re: [PaulC] Scottish licensing update [In reply to] Can't Post or Reply Privately

Yes, Shire not Bonnyrigg.

Shire's budget for this season is exceptional and they have used it to sign some real quality players. They are paying the highest wages in the Lowland League this season. That doesn't guarantee success but combined with their strength in depth, fielding a reserve side in the SPFL Reserve League, I think they will be there or thereabouts. Losing big Ashe from the back was a blow, but Evan Horne should prove to be a more than adequate replacement. Only Kelty and East Kilbride can match the quality of Barr, MacDonald, Low and Flynn. Once Malone and Dyer are fir they will be even more formidable.

Bonnyrigg are good side but I think there have some glaring weaknesses. Baur is a bombscare and neither goalkeeper fills me with confidence. Swanson's indiscipline may also catch up with him. They also have a smallish squad with only two out and out strikers. Hunter has failed at LL level before so they will rely heavily on McGachie. I would expect them to finish 4th or 5th.

Didn’t you mention another club that doesn’t have floodlights? Or have they already erected them?

Will a club be reprieved if Vale fails to erect floodlights and don’t end up in bottom place themselves?
