Number of wins in FA Cup in one season Can't Post or Reply Privately

Inspired by Carquefou winning nine matches in the French Cup this season.

What is the F A Cup record? I've found 9 by Derby County in 1945-46 (the 2 leg season) and 8 by Blyth Spartans in 1977-78. Any other eight or more records?

On the other side of the coin. Only two sides have won the F A Cup after winning less than 5 matches - Arsenal (twice) and the Wanderers (3 times).

Are you counting shoot-out victories as 'wins' or 'draws'?

Shoot-outs decide the qualifier for the next round, they don't decide the result of a match.

Carquefou won their first nine matches this season in the French Cup, either in 90 minutes or after extra time.

Brighton won 8 matches in the 1932/3 season.

Their application for the FA Cup arrived late, so had to play through the qualifying rounds. They won 4 qualifying matches and 4 in the Competition proper before losing after extra time in a 5th Round replay to West Ham.

They also scored 43 FA Cup goals that season, which would not be far off a record tally for one season I would have thought.

Other teams followed (in no particular order): Littlehampton Town, Fareham Town, Le Havre, Vannes, Alemannia Aachen, Darmstadt 98, SG Bruchkobel, Viktoria Zizkov

Funny, I asked pretty much the same question at http://www.nlpl.co.uk/...;guest=5316584#24737

So, Brighton, New Brighton, Blyth Spartans and Harlow Town would all appear to have eight wins.

In 1919 - 1920, three clubs won eight matches: Castleford Town, Hednesford Town, and Thornycrofts (Woolston).

8 Thornycrofts (Woolston) (1919-20)
8 Brighton & Hove Albion (1932-33)
8 Southall (1935-36)
8 Chelmsford City (1938-39)
8 New Brighton (1956-57)
8 Blyth Spartans (1977-78)
8 Harlow Town (1979-80)
