Wakefield are charging people 5 for this friendly on Saturday. Frickley are playing the same side, East Stirlingshire, on Friday night for... 5 entry. So I'm guessing it'll just be kids at the game in Cudworth? Crazy

Do County Senior Prem teams often charge entry?

Wakefield have tweeted that admission is 5 for all home First Team games.

There used to be a rule in the Sheffield County Senior that admission should not be charged (that was rumoured to be why Kinsley switched back to the Central Midlands after one season in the CSL). That rule might well have been superseded by 'standard' rules set by the FA but I not heard of any CSL teams actually charging admission and I would be surprised if (m)any other Step 7 clubs were charging 5.

The first competitive home game for Wakefield AFC is this Wednesday (21st). It will be interesting to see how many spectators turn up.

A season ticket for Wakefield is 75 pounds. If they play all the home games that works out at 5 a game. No saving. I hope they don't expect visiting fans to pay? They don't pay anywhere else, unless Wakefield are splitting the gate 50/50 with the other team to make it fair to both parties?

As a comparison most CML South clubs seem to charge £3 for adults.

With the caveat that this is second-hand info, someone from another SCSL club reckons their secretary has complained to the league about Wakefield charging, and been told they hadn't asked the league if they could charge admission (and that the 'no charge' rule should still stand). So there may be further developments.

according to chris and updated via facebook wakefield afc games are now on the main pitch the one with the 500 seated covered stand and hard standing around most sides and some lighting, but if pitch is not playable then the 3g can be used, the issue was pitch size thats been sorted.

The 'hard standing round most sides' is a running track all the way round. https://www.flickr.com/...m-72157672315687073/
Also given that the view from many surrounding vantage points is on a par with watching the stand, anyone who wants to avoid paying Wakefield's 5 surcharge would presumably have plenty of options.

I know 5 seems a bit steep, but surely you'd expect to pay something at a Step 7 match?

When Kiveton were in the Central Midlands League we charged 2 entry - I believe most CML clubs now charge 3 on average.
Wakefield are the only County Senior League club to charge admission as far as I am aware.

its up to the officials at two games last year in athletic grounds supporters where told to stand behind the fence of the track and in one he even counted number in the dugout and told people in club tracksuit tops to stand behind the wall.

Central Mids is the only local step 7 league that traditionally charges (and in return for stricter ground grading/ facility requirements). For me, if you join a league you should really find out what the protocol for that league is and why, and go along with it. County Senior, WRCAL, West Yorkshire Lg are all no cover charge except for Wakefield. A few do a raffle/programmes to cover officials fees, also Beeston St.Ants used to take a donation bucket round.

It might vary nationally, but round about here, other than in the Central Mids, most don't.

Wakefield have pulled out of their CML Presidents Cup tie at Cromford tomorrow. https://twitter.com/cwwtfc?lang=en

Maybe they have arranged a friendly with Garth Vader.

WRCAL gone

the yorkshire amateur league aka yorkshire old boys league has sort of replaced it at step 7, the grounds look no better most seem park/ public pitches not private clubs like west yorkshire league grounds

I am surprised to read this, although it's clearly correct. When I saw Wakefield in an away game at Swinton (Mexborough) on Wednesday, when they were beaten quite comfortably 3-0,they had a full compliment of five substitutes and eight unused players, wearing club gear, who had travelled to a midweek away game, watching from the stand.
I suppose that if you have only 24 players in total, running two teams would be difficult, but I have a feeling that reality might be coming to bite at their ambitions.
