Bristol United Can't Post or Reply Privately

Interesting one if true...however seems to be a number of inaccuracies e.g. moving to Hellenic League

Wouldn't rule out Hellenic as they're just a few yards over the road from Hellenic 1 West side, Almondsbury.

Why wouldn't they just transfer to Step 5 as that is where Roman St George play?

They would! I think the article may have just made tht lst bit up (about what division they'd go into).

I imagine the writer was going by the supposed rule that a merged club takes the lower of the two components' places. Lebeq are currently at Step 7 but look like getting promoted, so Step 6 is where they hope to be next season - and hence it is where the merged club should be.

I'm well aware that this rule is rarely if ever applied in practice, and a merged club actually takes the higher place. But if it's not a real rule, why is it there?

I was with the Chairman of Roman Glass last night - I think it is still very early doors in this discussion. Not the least Roman Glass St George are the direct descendants of Bristol St George and will want to retain their name, as will Lebeq, whose heritage is in the Afro-Caribbean community.

There is also an existing club called Bristol United.

Is there? I can't find them in any league and I also cannot find them on the FA's Find a Club facility.

They play in one of Bristol's several unaffiliated leagues.

I ran a team in the Avon Youth League for a decade and Bristol United were a regular opposition in there. The kids played at Whitehall Playing Fields in, er, Whitehall on a pitch behind the Kings Arms pub. Not sure if there's an adult team though.

Re: [windydcfc] Bristol United [In reply to] Can't Post or Reply Privately

Surely if there’s a club called ‘Bristol United’ in an unaffiliated League that’s irrelevant as the FA won’t have recognised them?
