Sequences Round (as in Only Connect) Can't Post or Reply Privately

I would call this a sequence, so what comes fourth

1) Brentford
2) New York Giants
3) AS Monaco

...someone will probably tell me that there is something I have missed!!

I thought someone would have replied with an idea, although as a sequence it was wrong. I found two other entries. I think the full sequence is therefore

1) Brentford
2) New York/New Jersey Kinghts
3) Panathinaikos
4) New York Giants
5) AS Monaco
6) ???

I had a google at your first list and found nothing.

The answer was Wilberforce Wanderers. I thought someone would get it.

Teams playing away matches at Wembley

in the 1930s, Orient played a couple of league games at Wembley, Brentford were to away team in the first game

London Monarch's first opponent at Wembley was New York/New Jersey Knights

Arsenal's first Champions League game at Wembley was against Panathinaikos

The first NFL games at Wembley featured New York Giants as the away team

The first time Spurs switched a home game to Wembley, the away side was AS Monaco

Finally, Stonewall played a home game, with Wilberforce Wanderers as the away team

....now I really expect someone to tell me that I got something wrong.

And I read that Ealing AFC (who they?) played 8 games there in 1930/31

Happy New Year Buncranaboy. I don't usually read this section but anything relating to Victoria Coren-Mitchell is likely to grab my attention.

I can't swear that it was their first ever match at the stadium but on 13th October 1928 Ipswich played their second away league game of the season against Ealing (Association?) at Wembley in the Southern Amateur League. Town won 4-0 in front of a 1200 crowd, with the scorers being H.L. Rogers 2, P. Bugg and L. Gibbs. As well as the away league match at Eastbourne we played 3 cup ties during September/October of that season before the Wembley match.

Whilst I can't, therefore, guarantee that Ipswich should have been the first answer in the link, as it was their 5th game of the season, I will rain on Leo's parade in saying that, as per Buncranaboy's observation, Palace would not have been the first side to play a league game at Wembley.

Info courtesy of the excellent, "Men Who Made The Town", I say "excellent" as it was written by a drinking chum of mine.

No info about whether paper was available but as there were no murders in Ipswich that day those away fans attending wouldn't have needed an alibi.

According to the Independent

https://www.independent.co.uk/...-one-man-637502.html

Ealing's first game at Wembley was against Hastings and St Leonards on 29 Sept 1928, the Ipswich game was the second.

So Hastings and St Leonards should come before Brentford on the list

Just because you're paranoid, it doesn't mean they're not out to get you.

Agreed, although missing that one out does not stop it being a sequence
All the others make a sequence.
Seriously, I did not know that Ealing had played home games there, so I am rather pleased this thread drew that one out for me.
