Hereford 3 Gloucester City 3

Old School Lane: Midland Floodlit Youth League Premier Division South

This was my first visit to Old School Lane for several weeks, after having watched a number of Midland Floodlit Youth League fixtures here during August, involving both the host club and Hereford. The Bulls recent league activity had been curtailed by their involvement in the FA Youth Cup, where they travel to Long Eaton United in the third qualifying round next week, which has in turn seen Hereford play three league fixtures and hover in the lower reaches of the Premier Division South table. Hereford had enjoyed a 4-0 victory over lower-graded Malvern Town at Edgar Street in the FA Youth Cup last Thursday. Gloucester City found themselves third in the table following a 3-0 home victory over Lye Town last week.

The home team took a fourth minute lead when a free-kick just outside the Gloucester City penalty area was headed in at the far post. The Tigers levelled the scores 10 minutes later when a cross from the left was bundled home at the fat posy after Hereford failed to clear the ball from their penalty area. The visitors went ahead for the first time, some eight minutes after the interval, when a direct free-kick from nearly 30 yards out found the top corner of the Hereford goal. The young Bulls equalised in the 73rd minute indirect free-kick awarded for the Gloucester City goalkeeper handling a backpass. The visitors inexplicably gave away another free-kick for a handled back pass three minutes latter and this once again resulted in another goal. Gloucester City gained a point when the Hereford custodian could only parry a 25 yard free-kick and the loose ball was was turned home from close range to level the scores.

NWCFL.Division1 North. KO 20:00. 3 OAP. Progs available. Crowd 63

Bacup Borough 4 v 3 AFC Blackpool

My only previous visit here was in the days of their yellow floodlights, which failed that evening. Tonight the teams put on an entertaining show with the visitors scoring after nine minutes but conceding three minutes later. AFC scored again but let in two in three minutes only to concede once more just before half time to go in at 3-3.

Blackpool controlled the second period but couldn't score and finally conceded in the 89th Minute.

Dulwich Hamlet 0-5 Palace. Fundraising friendly. Admission 10, programme 2, att 1,226

@Imperial Fields, Tooting and Mitcham FC.

On a foul evening with driving rain for most of the game a strong Palace side including three Internationals, were far too strong for a game Dulwich side. Impressive strikes from Meyer, Kai Kai, Daly, Wickham and Puncheon were enjoyed by both sets of fans who were huddled under cover behind the goals or in the main stand. The most important aspect of the night was of course the fundraising for the ongoing battle with the property developer ground owners, but from a Palace perspective it was the appearance of a sharp looking Connor Wickham, almost two years since his horrible injury at Swansea. All Palace fans are hoping he might be the answer to our current goalscoring issues.

I must make mention of the excellent Lebanese kitchen that served me sone very tasty patties. The Wall of this parish was also in attendance with Palace supporting grandson.
