Carterton have disappeared from the League Table on Full Time and are not shown as having any future fixtures.
Nothing on the club site or twitter. Yet the Non-League Paper still has them shown in the Division One West table.

Not a dicky bird on the Hellenic League site.
Anyone know anything definite?

The One West table (& results) page on THIS WEBSITE, that obviously you check regularly shows that Carterton resigned in September 2018 after playing 3 games, results expunged

Thanks to you both. Perhaps the Hellenic website could have helped more (Carterton are still shown today as members of Div 1 West!!)

It's a shame. On my one visit to Carterton I was early and chatted to the gatekeeper. When the same bloke announced the teams on the tannoy, he added "..and a warm welcome to our special guest today, Mr ........who has come all the way from Bristol to see us".

Perhaps they can't be expunged officially until the board has met and confirmed the resignation?

I tweeted that after seeing it on here, and also our cup game against them being cancelled and us being given a bye.

It is a bit peculiar that it hasn't been mentioned on the main Hellenic League site though.

The news articles on the main Hellenic site look to have been uploaded by the clubs themselves (through the 'Submit article' link) with no intervention from the site admins, so if nobody from Carterton has posted news of their withdrawal it probably won't show up there. Nothing else on the rest of the site has been updated for ages and you have to go to Full Time for any match info.

Congratulations to Sam Collier and the lads from Royal Wootton Bassett Town for going top of the whole National League System (Steps 1 to 7) last night.

Following last nights game with Bishops Cleeve Sam’s team has now played more league games than any other club in the whole football pyramid, including the full-time professional sides in the National League.

In a league where the Chairman has as his footer the slogan “Supporting fixtures that minimise travel distance, time and costs for our clubs” somewhat surprisingly over 50% of the away league games have been in midweek with all that it entails.

With a pitch which was the only one not to have a game called off on last season, as many home league games have already been played on it this season as Binfield have played in total (although it looks like Binfield are playing catch up big style in December!).

Shame that RWBTFC were not rewarded with a win last night due to a last-minute equaliser in what was another entertaining game, but Sam can be rightly proud of his side today.

Not true, some of the SW Peninsula League Premier Division teams have also played 21 league games already.

Well, it looks as though Abingdon Town FC will continue for the time being in Hellenic Division 1, but, if the 'announcement' by the new chairman is anything to go by (below), they will soon be moving onwards and upwards (or not...when realism strikes.)

North Leigh United have folded .

Or North Leigh have decided to disband their reserve side!
No doubt someone will say they were two totally separate clubs, just like Brackley Town and Saints.

Has there ever been anything from the FA stating exactly why they consider Town and Saints to be separate clubs.
I like many others fail to see it but there must be a rationale behind it somewhere.

Not sure why they would, but maybe something will emerge when we start hearing about those clubs who are ineligible for promotion for whatever reason?

In summary, the current situation is that Saints presumably comply with the FA's rules on dual ownership/interests/reserve teams, otherwise they wouldn't have been allowed in the FA Cup. It's also been reported on here that Saints believe they're sufficiently autonomous to be allowed promotion to step 4, though I don't know if that's official.

On the other hand, I did see a piece of gossip recently that suggested if you speak to anyone at the club they'll tell you they're Towns reserves! Besides that, the argument that they're not autonomous seems to be because of the shared website, badge (?), colours etc. Yet it's not at all unusual in other industries for independently-controlled, autonomous businesses to share a web platform and branding (logo, colours etc) so that argument - in isolation - is easily overstated.

The conclusion from that incomplete picture is that the club is autonomous because, if it isn't, it'd mean there's either a loophole in the FA's control/ownership rules or the club is breaking those rules. If any such concerns have been raised then I haven't heard about them...not that I'd expect to, mind, unless I happened to see it reported on here.

Yes i can understand Saints being allowed to play at step 5.
They are as i understand an academy side and the young men still have to attend classes as part of the scheme.
But it is the manager saying that they could be promoted to step 4 that i can not understand.
But of course he could be wrong.

The manager may well be wrong (or misquoted) but the question then would be how could they be compliant with the FA Cup rules of entry but not eligible for promotion to step 4. Any number of possible answers to that scenario but, one way or another, it'd suggest something had gone awry.

I tend to put it down to the left hand of the FA not knowing what the right hand is doing.
As with the ground sharing rules mentioned elsewhere, it appears that the FA are conspiring (or at least have conspired) with clubs to allow them to break rules laid down by the FA. One would have thought it would have been expedient not to create the rules in the first place

That may end up proving to be the case but, if so, that's a few steps down the line. At present, I haven't seen any proof on here that the FA rules are flawed or have been broken so I'll stick with 'innocent until proven guilty'. That's not to say there aren't suspicions!

Shouldn't that give them the same status as university sides?

Who, I believe, aren't allowed to play above Step 5

Yes that is exactly the point i am making.
Why is the manager so confident that they can play at step 4.

A rule being introduced but not currently in operation? Loughborough were giving it large about climbing the pyramid not long after the move to the new stadium.

The good news is that Brackley Town Saints have had a rough patch lately and have dropped to third. Wantage look in pole position now so this issue looks to have gone away for this season at least.
