Coupe de France 2018-19 Can't Post or Reply Privately

As discussed in the 2017-18 thread, qualification for the 2018-19 Coupe de France is already well underway. Three regions of mainland France have started (or will very soon start) their qualification rounds.

In Paris-Île-de-France the first two rounds are pretty much completed, although there will no doubt be an extra tour de cadrage round in August to fudge the numbers required for the third round.
A nett 378 teams were scheduled to participate in the first round, and the winners were joined by 83 new entrants up to and including the top regional league (formerly Division d'Honneur, now pretty universally Régionale 1).

In Grant Est region, a nett 730 teams are scheduled to participate in the first round. Lorraine sector is pretty much complete, but there are still plenty of games this week and next in Alsace and Champagne-Ardenne sectors. The figures for each sector: Alsace 330, Champagne-Ardenne 84, Lorraine 316.

In Hauts-de-France region, there are 100 teams kicking off round one in the fairly accessible Somme district, with most of the fixtures this Sunday if anyone fancies a quick trip over. The other districts in this region will hold round one games in August, with registrations now closed.

Overseas, the qualifying campaigns are well underway in Réunion (38 entries, 12 in round two, 26 exempt to round three, round one omitted for sequencing) and Mayotte (30 in round one, 17 exempt to round two).

Closing date for registration in the remaining mainland regions is tomorrow, 15th June.

All the results available at https://en.wikipedia.org/...e_Preliminary_Rounds and for those who like to keep track of entrant numbers, there's a temporary table at https://en.wikipedia.org/...r:Gricehead/sandbox2 which will eventually go in the main competition article.

A new one to me this year, although the experts in this forum may know different:

AS St Pierraise of the overseas collectivity of Saint Pierre and Miquelon have been entered into the Coupe de France at the regionalised third round stage.

They have been placed in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region draw, and will play at ALC Longvic on Saturday afternoon (15th) at 14:00 CEST

I'm not aware of any Saint Pierre and Miquelon teams being entered into the competition before. There only appear to be three teams according to wikipedia and RSSSF

It's a first.

See https://www.fff.fr/...t-pierre-et-miquelon

For your records all three St Pierre & Miquelon teams participated this season in the Coupe de France.

ASSP beating l’AS Miquelonnaise 1-0 then AS Îlienne Amateurs 0-0 (5-2 pens).

I see that in 1975 Ayr United visited the archipelago as part of their Canadian tour. They played a combined ASSP/ASIA team, winning 14-0.

In 1978 Queen’s Park visited, playing a team chosen from all 3 clubs and winning 4-0. A couple of days after this match two Queen’s players were killed in a 5.30 am road accident in Newfounland.

ASSP made a decent fist of it, losing 2-1 at Longvic. There were 2-0 down inside 12 minutes.

The match was shown live by France Info. Full match here:

I should think St Pierre & Miquelon will be host next season if a club enters.

There is a three-team league. So far as I can see teams play each other 8 times in the season which is split into 4 parts Each time the teams complete a home/away set of fixtures a cup is awarded.

Teams used to also play in Newfoundland cup competitions but I see no evidence that they still do.

So this is an interesting publicity stunt.

Avant Garde Caennaise (AG Caen for short) of Régional 2 (tier 7) in Normandy, appear to be undergoing one of those experiments where decisions are made by internet users, via a company called United Managers

They beat R1 (tier 6) opposition 4-1 in last week's 4th round tie, AS Trouville-Deauville.

AS Trouville-Deauville lodged a pre-match challenge with the referee, stating that the "Internet users" were taking on the role of the coach, making the decisions regarding selections and substitutions, rather than the coach registered on the match-sheet. They further claimed that these "Internet users" were not qualified in accordance with the regulations to lead a Régional 2 club in a senior competition, due to not holding the proper licenses.

The League rules committee initially rejected the challenge, but have forwarded it to the League competitions committee, and allowed an appeal...

Going into the 6th round of mainland qualifying, 290 teams remain across the 13 groups. These break down as follows:

National (levels 3-5): 119
Regional (levels 6-8*): 156
District (levels 9+): 15

*Mediterranean League has one less Regional level, with the first District level at level 8, however no District level teams remain in the competition. Similarly, Corsica League has no District levels, but an extra Regional level at level 9, but no level 9 teams remain in the competition

The median level for the full dataset is 6, with only Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes group "outperforming" from the viewpoint of smaller teams, with a median of 7. 6 of the 15 District teams come from this group.

6 of the teams come from level 10 or higher:
ESM Hamel (Escaut District, Hauts-de-France) - Level 12
AS Vézeronce-Huert (Isère District, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes) - Level 11
La Jarrie FC (Charente-Maritime District, Nouvelle-Aquitaine) - Level 10
FC Weitbruch (Alsace District, Grand Est) - Level 10
FC Provillois (Escaut District, Hauts-de-France) - Level 10
US Verneuil-sur-Seine (Yvelines District, Paris - Île-de-France) - Level 10

Draws for the 6th round take place this week.

Re: [Gricehead] Coupe de France 2018-19 [In reply to] Can't Post or Reply Privately

For comparison, my counts are attached.

I make it that there were 6839 clubs involved this season, (including those who scratch without playing, as I my figure is based on number of ties in each round). That is 303 down on last season

By region, the number of teams qualified for Round 7, (i.e. below Ligue-1/Ligue-2 level) are as follows (with total numbers starting shown in brackets)

Hauts de France: 20 (975)
Grand Est: 20 (901)
Auvergne-Rhones-Alpes: 19 (855)
Bretagne: 14 (666)
Nouvelle-Aquitaine: 12 (587)
Pays-de-la-Loire: 11 (511)
Paris Ile-de-France: 11 (488)
Occitane: 11 (454)
Bourgogne-Franche Comte: 8 (359)
Normandie: 8 (354)
Mediterranee: 5 (164)
Centre Val-de-Loire: 4 (232)
Corse: 2 (35)

Outre-Mer:
Martinique: 2 (54)
Guadeloupe: 2 (45)
Reunion: 2 (38)
French Guayane: 2 (29)
Mayotte: 1 (47)
St. Pierre/Miquelon: 0 (3)

To make up the count, you add
20 from Ligue-2 (enter at round 7)
20 from Ligue-1 (enter at round 9)
1 each from French Polynesia and New Caledonia (enter at round 7)
Because of the different status of these two territories and their competitions, no qualification tournaments are in the count

If as a result of the New Caledonia referendum (November 4th), they become an independent country, then it is possible this will be their final appearance in this competition.

Le tirage du prochain tour sera réalisé avec notre partenaire du Crédit Agricole, sur une date qui sera communiquée rapidement aux clubs.

Yes, all the other regions have announced dates for their draws. Basically, Tuesday to Thursday this week (see https://www.footamateur.fr/...ges-du-sixieme-tour/) but Normandy are keeping the cards close to their chest.

As we are both working from the same dataset, we should end up with the same numbers Blush

However, I am doing some manual transcribing - looking at your data and then copying the number of ties from your table to mine. I simply copied down the wrong number for First round in Mediterranée, and once corrected we come up with the same figure (208).

I'll check the other discrepancies and see if I can correct my listing further.

The cup draw in Normandie is not until Tuesday!
In the meantime, other draws are made and fixtures arranged, so I already have my most likely fixtures
In Pays de la Loire, I have spotted two games where sixth level teams are at home to those from National (level 3)
Mulsanne-Teloche v SO Cholet (Saturday 3 pm)Change v Le Mans (Sunday 2.30) - this is Change near Laval, not close to Le Mans
While in Centre Val de Loire, there is a level 5 v level 4 game on Saturday (7pm)
AS Montlouis v Blois 41

Google shows the pair as approximately 1 hour drive time apart

Very disappointing sixth round across the weekend. The only District side in the seventh round will be AS Carrières Grésillons, who won the tie mentioned above.

Of the 145 teams qualifying to the seventh round, 85 are from the National league system (16 National, 25 National 2, 44 National 3) and 59 from the Regional league system (37 R1, 15 R2, 7 R3).

Only Hauts-de-France delivers more Regional sides (14) than National sides (6) into the draw, whilst Centre Val-de-Loire, Corsica and Mediterranean qualifying delivered only National sides.

The draw for the 11 Outre-Mer sides will take place today

In the draw for the overseas clubs, five will play at home
AS Magenta (Nouvelle Calédonie), ASE Matoury (Guyane), SS Jeanne D'Arc (Réunion), Golden Lion (Martinique), UU Sainte Rosienne (Guadeloupe).

Six will travel to mainland France
FC Mtsapere (Mayotte), AS Dragon (Polynésie), US Matoury (Guyane), AS Sainte-Suzanne (Réunion), Aiglon Lamentin (Martinique), JS Vieux-Habitants (Guadeloupe).

There will be 11 clubs in from levels 3-5 of the French mainland system involved.
ES Thaonnaise, FC Versailles 78, Stade Poitevin FC, Besançon Football et FC Côte Bleue - National 3 (tier 5)
Sainte-Geneviève Sports, AF Bobigny, SAS Épinal Football et Saint-Pryvé Saint-Hilaire FC - National 2 (tier 4)
Entente Sannois Saint-Gratien et US Concarneau - National 1 (tier 3)

All eleven have volunteered, and I would imagine they are all hoping for an away draw

JS Vieux-Habitants are at the second level of the Guadeloupe league - all the others sit in the top level for their territory
