I have just read this - the definitive document on FIFA new rankings system
This leads to a new ranking, with England 6th
The decision to include a bonus over the draw for panalty shoot out wins, and for positive points exchanges only from quarter finals onwards means the total number of points in the system increases over time.
There is no specific allowance for regional competitions - they should be given a ranking above friendlies, probably in line with Nations League matches in Europe and North/Central America
Venue is not taken into account, so it does not matter if a game is home, away or at a neutral venue.
England's next match is against Spain.
By my calculation, Spain takes 8 ranking points from England if they win, and England takes 7 from Spain with a win. A draw would see a transfer of half a point from England to Spain
To get the figures to work using Excel, I needed to move a bracket from the worked example. The second bracket should open immediately after the / symbol
