Bogey teams and lousy records Can't Post or Reply Privately

Fleetwood Town's visit to Oxford United this afternoon was the ninth time the two sides have met in the league.

In those nine matches, Fleetwood's record is..

Won 8, drawn 1, lost 0

They have won all five visits they have made to the Kassam Stadium.

Any other pairing with such an unbalanced record of league results?

As we tend to be aware, when the TV commentator says not won a match against x since 1964, this often refers to only two or three meetings.

Meanwhile, the record between Cheltenham Town and Exeter City deserves a mention. Six wins for Exeter, Nine for Cheltenham and one draw may not seem special.

But look at it like this, we first met on Boxing Day 1999, when Cheltenham won 3-1. The meeting on Boxing Day 2013 was the 9th clash, and the record then stood at Cheltenham 9 wins, Exeter nil. The return match in April saw Exeter garner their first point from the clash

Move on a year, and (again on Boxing Day), Exeter beat Cheltenham, they now have six consecutive wins

I think the one that is commonly trotted out is QPRs record at Nottingham Forest, played 33 games at Forest and they have never won.

Mansfield Town vs Accrington Stanley since Stanley entered FL in 2006 in league games is

At home won nil draw 2 and lost 5
Away won nil draw 2 and lost five 5

So only 4 draws and 10 loses in 7 seasons.

However last night in League Cup the result was a 6-1 Stags Win. Only other win was a 1-0 Fa Cup win in 2006.

Yes, but remember you always have that 7-5 win from 1982 in the bank! Kerry Dixon scored 4 for my lot in that game.

In 4 consecutive home league games that season the scores were
Rovers 6 Exeter 1
Rovers 7 Reading 5
Rovers 3 Wigan 6
Rovers 4 Brentford 4

Then the TV cameras turned up from the regional news and it ended Rovers 1 Wrexham 1

Looking through my record of Watford matches unsurprisingly our worst records are against the traditional big clubs.

Everton:

Played 26
Won 4
Draw 4
Lost 19

In fact our recent record against them is good which has helped this stat!

Liverpool

P 30
W 5
D 4
L 21

Again we've had a couple of wins in recent times which helps.

Spurs:

P 31
W 6
D 4
L 21

Man Utd

P 28
W 5
D 5
L 18

Honorable mention to West Ham:

P 45
W 11
D 8
L 28

Pts per game for all the above is under 1.

On the flip side our record against these is much better!

Crewe:

P 30
W 20
D 3
L 7

Scunthorpe:

P 24
W 15
D 4
L 5

Darlington (old)

P 15
W 8
D 5
L 2

Rochdale

P 15
W 9
D 3
L 3

Bristol Rovers

P 90
W 48
D 16
L 26

Newport

P 72
W 36
D 16
L 20

Rotherham

P 25
W 12
D 7
L 6

Gillingham

P 89
W 39
D 26
L 24

Oxford

P 38
W 17
D 14
L 7

Also never lost to Cheltenham or Wycombe in 6 matches against each. Granted we're not much of bogey side for many teams.

As a neutral I have seen Watford beat both Everton and West Ham! The Everton game was Watford's first game in Division.
