Coggeshall United Can't Post or Reply Privately

Apologies if this has been asked before but planning to watch Coggeshall United tomorrow and Iím trying to work out if they are an independent club or Coggeshall Town reserves in disguise. Does anybody know?

Their respective websites show they have independent club histories, separate nicknames, etc. but the thing thatís causing me a nagging doubt is that Cliff Akurang is shown as Football Development Manager of Town and Chairman of United.

If you are going to Coggeshall for the game against Walthamstow, it has been moved back a week to 30th June.

Although the tweet they put up yesterday stating the game would be played at Haringey & Enfield College has now disappeared again! Will need to investigate...

Please let us know if you find out the game is on, and which campus of the college the game is being played at.

Shown as 1pm tomorrow on the Walthamstow website but no mention on Coggeshall's (1st PSF shown as July 7)
If it is being played I would think it will be at the Enfield campus, as there are no pitches at the Tottenham one

Would say they are separate clubs- but very close links

Watched them both last year - United are an Academy type club -most players under 21 - with the hope that many of the players will progress to a higher level, some will end up playing for Coggeshall Town but a couple last year went to other Essex clubs further up the pyramid

Last New Ground; Boston Utd, Games in 2019/20 Season; 4, New Grounds this Season; 2, Next scheduled game: Felixstowe and Walton Utd v Ipswich Town U23 - PSF( 23/7/19)

So are some County FA's sanctioning pre-season matches in June and others aren't?

Re: [Richard Rundle] Coggeshall United [In reply to] Can't Post or Reply Privately

As far as I was aware there are FA Rules that state matches have to be completed by 31 May, League AGMs have to be held in June and the new season starts on 1st July.

Technically, therefore clubs are not registered with County FAs to play in June, and thus are not covered by insurance.

The exceptions are those clubs registered for summer leagues for which separate FA Rule apply.

United are Coggeshall Town Reserves, and have even been referred to as such in Towns programmes last season. In addition, United play in kit with the Town badge on it.
