They are due to make an announcement in the next 24 hours. It could be a new manager to replace the ones who have just left.

It almost sounds like you are glad that a club with over 60 years history would fold.

Hollow - Not sure how you reach the conclusion you have suggested given the post merely highlighted a news item but there we go - As we have seen from recent decisions on restructuring, the written word can be interpreted many different ways by all!

My apologies. Feeling a little sensitive regarding online comments today.

It's a club local to me and I'd hate to see it fold. We are losing too many good clubs at the moment in Shropshire.

Sad that we have Shawbury playing in Ludlow. Newport looking to play in Eccleshall. Clubs are being leaving from their community due to a lack of facilities.

Even Ams play about 2 miles from Wellington.

The blazers don't care. As long as they get their long service awards and expenses they are happy.

How are you getting a merger out of that???

To me it looks like Oakengates Athletic are merely moving into Wellington Amateurs ground for next season as tenants!

Because the new chairman and management team at Welly Ams were with Oakengates until the season just ended.

"it’s been a brilliant time as oakengates but due to the lack for facilities we cannot move forward"

That definitely reads like the name Oakengates is going and they are continuing under Wellington Ams's name

My worry would have been the Ams name disappearing. However It seems that it holds greater weight than Oakengates Athletic.

The School Grove ground was once home to Oakengates Town who were originally Wellington Post Office FC. The clubhouse used to be part of the AMS ground in Wellington and was dismantled and put up in Oakengates.

I wouldn't be surprised if in a few years they change the name to Telford "Something" to reflect the wider community.

I may even get down there next season when I get a chance.

I wonder if we’ll see them making the move across to the Hellenic. When all the senior county teams make the jump(probably next season & this move is just positioning themselves to do it?

I doubt it. To quote the charman

'We just can't get the players to sustain a club at that level...there is not the quality or the commitment from players needed...we can't sign players of the quality to sustain a challenge or compete and for the last three years we've been at the bottom end. We are going to step back and rely on our youth to build a side'

Manager Sam Bowen has resigned and Stuart Davies will take charge next season.

Not sure but it seems two: one here and one in the Staffs County. Looking on Full Time, they seem to have signed at least 40 players.

And talking of Full Time, it seems that their game on Saturday 11th is being played at the Monckton in Penkridge. I don't know if this is a just a one off. A little disappointed as I haven't been to their home venue.

With regards to the Monckton, the owners of the ground have now fenced off their car park to stop people using it who are not using the sports ground/ bar (I suppose the car park was full of cars using the nearby station). So, if you attend you should say you are seeing a match etc and thus, will be allowed to park for free. Otherwise, I have heard that they charge you £3 per day, although I don't know anyone who has been so charged.

Oldbury United's stop-start season has come to another stop. After coming close to folding a couple of months ago, having games called off, then going through a rebirth, their fixtures for the rest of this month are showing as postponed on Full Time. No information on their Twitter feed or Facebook page.

Perhaps worth repeating on this thread the news posted elsewhere that Dudley Town are on the move again. They will spend the rest of the season sharing with Sporting Khalsa at Noose Lane, otherwise known as The Aspray Arena. Unless they move again, of course...

This link states that they've folded. Again.

The team they beat in the divisional league cup (Tipton Town Res) are playing in the next round on 26th Jan, so looks like they've been reinstated instead of giving their next opponents a bye.

Knowing the league from old they will have been hoping somebody would save the club. They would only expunge results if it was certain this wasn't happening.
