And at Step 4 the NWC by another name has come to pass.

I know they can only do what they can with the teams they have, but to carve up the East and West Midlands into seperate divisions seems to have made things worse not better for Midlands clubs.

I understand there's no alternative with the makeup of the current clubs at step 3, but I hope in time promotion/relegation sorts itself out and there will be a fairly well defined Midlands league at step 3. Is it realistic to think that will happen in time?

I'm gonna congratulate the FALC on this. They've done a pretty good job of it.

I honestly thought that Harrow & Hendon, with their London postcodes, were a certainty to remain in the Isthmian. Glad they've moved over.

Step 4 looks good as well. Never considered Cinderford would move but they don't look too bad where they are. The only thing is there new league is called the Southern EAST! Cnderford are definitely not east. Maybe Didcot would have been better placed there.

Perhaps swapping Welwyn Garden City & Marlow as well but I'm picking. All in all I'm pleasently surprised and pleased.

Let's hope they do the same for Step's 5 & 6!

Morpeth to Wisbech is a trip you wouldn’t want midweek or on a Bank Holiday!!

I'd guess a 4 hour journey even at the best of times.

I've seen National League football teams travel from London up to the north east on the day, using train, then hire a local coach or even taxis to take them to the ground. As Newcastle to Peterborough is little more than two hours, it'd make sense for the north east boys to come to an arrangement with the train companies and do something similar.

What would be interesting is if someone were to overlay the actual projections onto a map of draft boundaries so we can see how close they actually are

Those division names in the Southern League surely have to be changed.

Putting Moneyfields in a division called 'West' and Cinderford in a division called 'East' is just going to cause unnecessary confusion. The divisions themselves look OK to me, but they are very clearly North and South, rather than East and West.

As someone whose club has ended up in there, that Step 4 Northern Premier League East looks absolutely farcical: you shouldn't have a team facing three or more 400+ like round trips as Morpeth will do (when heading to Peterborough Sports, Wisbech and my club Yaxley, and maybe Stamford as well?), or clubs like those three/four in the same league as such a northerly club. What it does do is emphasise just how much of a problem has been caused by the Northern League so rarely promoting clubs in recent times, and how another Step 4 league is needed to cut that travelling down as soon as possible.

This is the exact outcome that we didn't want at Yaxley, but I'm not sure if we will appeal or if we will just take it on the chin this season, given that the league should start drifting North once more Northern League clubs are promoted upwards.

The train company is Virgin East Coast and you wouldn’t get much change out of £100 per head travelling from Newcastle to Peterborough return on specific times. If the travelling party is a minimum of 20 that’s £2,000 before local coach companies/taxis get involved. Maybe the National League clubs can afford this within their budgets but I’d be amazed if the clubs at this level do anything other than travel by coach.

That's why I said come to an arrangement. Bulk/corporate discount, that kind of thing, rather than paying the walk up fare. I know York City had some kind of arrangement with VEC. (EDIT - meant Darlington!)

Rail travel is a thing clubs/players can ill afford at that level and would they book 12 weeks in advance anyway when games could get called off.

Southern Central looks great and there will be some very happy clubs with the outcome.

Are the Southern League Central & Southern League South going to inter-changeable, i.e.teams can be moved laterally from one season to the next?

And at Step 4 the NWC by another name has come to pass.

It’s not beyond the realms of possibility, that the NWCL will cover the same footprint as the NPL1W. I can’t see the NPL1E getting a smaller footprint until the F.A. creates the 8th step 4 league.

And East, West, South and Central aren't very useful for distinguishing between divisions at different levels. Just think of next season's FA Cup – the BBC has enough difficulty as it is...

I wonder who that'll be run by. Currently watching something Star Wars-related so can't get the word Empire out of my head.

I seriously think that a trick has been missed. Introducing 2 Southern-based divisions to stop Southern drift, then having them run by different leagues with almost completely unrelated footprints

unless stated, all views are my own and are not the views of any other person, club, or organisation

So many confusing division names.

1-2-4-8 was the right road to go down - but giving southern leagues the chance to operate the new divisions was so wrong.

Really hoping that the NPL get the chance to run the 8th step 4 divisions in a year or two, and that when the new structure has been up and running a couple of years a new entity comes in to run one Step 3 division and two Step 4 divisions.

Would be so much clearer if it was like this -

Step 1 - National League Premier
Step 2 - National League One North, National League One South
Step 3 - Northern League Premier, Midland League Premier, Isthmian League Premier, Southern League Premier
Step 4 - Northern League One West, Northern League One East, Midland League One North Midland League One South, Isthmian League One North, Isthmian League One South, Southern League One East, Southern League One West

Also, there are a lot of 'Central' divisions, but when it comes to the compass it's 'North' or 'South'.

It should be Centre and North or Central and Northern.
