I recently came across two partial episodes of BBC long running programme Desert Island Discs. The first one is Danny Blanchflower from 1960 which is 7 minutes long and the second is Jack Charlton from 1972 and is 11 minutes. A good edition of Desert Island Discs this morning, with John Motson as the guest... http://www.bbc.co.uk/...rammes/b0b6fbjd#play Sports personalities usually tend to be the most self-centred, self-important and downright boring people to appear on Desert Island Discs - two woefully tedious examples being the Olympic sailor Ben Ainslie and the ex-England rugby coach Clive Woodward. Maybe because John Motson comes from the world of Journalism rather than sport he tends to avoid this - also evident with possibly my all-time favourite edition of this show, which was the one featuring Murray Walker, who is both entertaining and moving when talking about his time driving a tank in WWII, and when talking about his father, about James Hunt, and the death of Ayrton Senna... http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03xzx62
