The naming of 23 players on match day seems to tie in with clubs having to name 23 (or is it 25) players that eligible for European games. This is just like Nations naming a World Cup or Euro squad and all those players are available during the game, except those suspended.

Games kicking off at 2100 CET is great for UK viewers but might annoy viewers in the eastern half of Europe.

It's only 15 minutes later than they kick off this season. Anyway, they've always moved kick offs for the far-eastern European games (e.g. Moscow) earlier - and will continue to do so...

"However, on every group-stage matchday, two of the Tuesday and two of the Wednesday matches will kick off at 18:55CET"

This brings back not so distant memories of the Champions League final that took 2 days to complete, Manchester United v Chelsea 2008

UEFA have also agreed this.

Players will be able to represent two different clubs in the same European cup competition from next season after governing body UEFA changed its rules.

As it stands, January signings cannot play for a second club in the Champions League or Europa League if they have already featured in that competition..
