Cricket Ball Tampering Can't Post or Reply Privately

I watched the ball tampering incident in Cape Town on a clubroom television screen before kick off. I just found it incredible that with multi-cameras in a ground that anyone would be so stupid. Maybe a ban for Bancroft and a huge fine for Smith would bring the Aussies to their senses.

Wouldn't be surprised if Darren Lehmann was the driving force behind it. I have no evidence that's this is the case but it wouldn't surprise me.

At 1m 25s this video suggests Lehmann was behind it:

1 game ban for Smith from ICC

= Slap on wrists for getting caught rather than trying to stamp cheating out.

But if we cheat and get convicted we'd get sent to Australia. Crazy

A total lack of genuine remorse was what I saw coming from Smith this morning, probably the only sorrow was the fact they got caught. OK Aus got wiped away by 322 runs but what would the ICC have done if they had won it!!

I'm not a big cricket fan but surely Smith's position is untenable and how stupid to think that they would get away with this.

Shame we don't get such an uproar about footballers cheating!

Unfortunately Lehmann was a product of the David Hookes school of cheating and has carried it on in memory of his mentor.

The ICC needs to step in here and punish those involved with severe penalties, say 3 month ban on players plus fines. If this is swept under the carpet how long before the integrity of cricket itself is called into question?

ICC has already given punishments.
Smith = 1 match ban.
They don't care.

Any bigger punishments are only likely to be those self-emposed by Australians on themselves.

Australia sanding Smith, Warner and Bancroft home, further sanctions may follow.

Lehmann cleared.

Refusing to say they cheated just a dark day.

Trying to minimise it, push it under carpet me thinks,.typical sporting leaders.

Bancroft banned for 9 months from playing for Australia and in Australian domestic cricket.

Smith banned for 12 months from playing for Australia and in Australian domestic cricket.

Warner banned for 12 months from playing for Australia and in Australian domestic cricket.

Can still play Australian club cricket and any cricket outside of Australia. Though IPL has banned Smith and Warner already.

What has really got to me is the hypocritical comments of the Australian Players' Association chairman Greg Dyer.
The same Greg Dyer who lost his Test place for cheating and then got banned by New South Wales for cheating (against Darren Lehmann, of all people) in a Sheffield Shield match.

They'll all be available for next summer's Ashes. Edgbaston will be even noisier than usual.

Very impressed with the Australian cricket authorities/media/players in the way they're sticking together in pinning the blame on just three players. Damage limitation springs to mind!
No doubt it'll all gradually be revealed how much the rest of the players and coaching staff knew, in the months to come, once squad loyalties breakdown.

It beggars belief that none of the fast bowlers were in on it, as they are the ones who will be getting the benefits of a "tampered" ball.

Currently, Bancroft is contracted to Somerset as their overseas player, but hopefully they'll find a non-cheating replacement.

We don't want him roughing up one side of the apples, it will spoil the scrumpy.
