Mayfair tweeted that the game v Gym United will take place at Solihull Moors on March 11, KO 2pm. Equally inconvenient for followers from both Liverpool and Bury St Edmunds!

The other semi-final between New Salamis and Hardwick Social is being played at Alfreton Town on 11th March with a 2pm ko, according to both clubs twitter feeds. Again not great for either set of fans.

Grounds visited: 232
Last new ground: Anchor Ground (AFC Darwen)
Next planned fixture: Unsure

The FA have selected decent grounds for both games pretty much equidistant for all the teams involved. What alternative would you suggest that would satisfy everyone?

Traditionally FA Sunday Cup Semi-Finals have been played at grounds near the club drawn out of the hat first. I have seen a Northampton team (Vanaid) play at Kettering Town and a Hertfordshire team play at Hemel Hempstead.

I've always thought that was a very sensible arrangement, has it been changed? I would have thought Sudbury and Haringey Borough would be logical venues for the semi finals? It seems daft to make both clubs travel long distances to some neutral venue.

Sudbury is a pain to get to from anywhere, with the possible exception of Bury St Edmunds!

What I'd have done is to arrange the semi finals as a double header at Peterborough United FC. Nearer for the contingents from Bury and North London than for their opponents, so a slight nod to the convention that one team gets to play at home-ish. But a reasonably easy journey from both Liverpool and Teesside, and with trains a viable option for those who prefer to travel that way.

It will be interesting to see how many turn up to watch each game.
The teams “fans” are likely to be manly friends & family so are, I suspect, unlikely to be numbered in hundreds, to get a decent “crowd” therefor the games need to attract locals through the turnstiles. Will a game between two Sunday league clubs from miles away which most of the locals have never heard of attract the football fans of Alfreton & Solihull?
Would holding both games on the same day at the same stadium somewhere in the midlands might have been a better idea?

This is the first Suffolk side to reach the final after quite a few good teams striving to in the past.

I'm rather envious!

Well done Gym United & good wishes in the final.

Great to see such a healthy attendance at Alfreton and glad to see my gloomy prediction was proved wrong.

Final to be at Sheffield United on Sunday 29 April, the final sees last year’s champions Hardwick Social, of the Stockton Sunday League, back to defend their title following a 2-1 victory over New Salamis in the semi-final.
And they will take on Gym United, who hail from the Bury St Edmunds & District Sunday League, who are in the final for the first time.
The game kicks-off at 1pm and admission costs £5 for adults and £1 for U16s at Bramall Lane on the day of the game.

I'm thinking of going to the final.

Interesting to read that the core of the Hardwick team also play for Stockton, finalists at Wembley for the FA Vase. That's some season for the players involved.
