Martin Day (Mawnan, Penryn Athletic, Falmouth Town, Porthleven, St Day) Can't Post or Reply Privately

Sad news from Cornwall is that Martin Day passed away yesterday aged 36.
Playing at left back, he started his career with local village side Mawnan before moving into senior football with Penryn Athletic.
In 2004 Falmouth showed an interest but were unable to sign him as they had already approached the player who at first turned them down but changed his mind. Falmouth couldn't submit seven days notice for the same player and to get around this, a deal was struck where Truro City would sign Day, Falmouth would sign striker Paul Cox and then Town and City would swap the players. It left a sour taste in the mouth of Penryn but Day went on to be a reliable player for always gave his all for the team.
Following Steve Massey's decision to join Truro in 2005, almost all the squad went with him, except Day. New Falmouth manager Garry Penhaligon made him the team captain, an honour which he revelled in.
Following Penhaligon's decision not to stay and the return of Massey, Day opted to leave and had successful spells at Porthleven and St Day, winning the Cornwall Combination League Cup in 2015 before returning full circle with Mawnan.
His brother Jamie played for Peterborough United.
He leaves a wife Clair and two young children.
