Chasewood United Can't Post or Reply Privately

Long shot I know but has anyone any information on Chasewood United FC who were members of the Staffordshire County League (South) in the 1980s with a ground in Jubilee Park, Hammerwich which is now under the M6 Toll.

Yes they had two years there when joining the Mid Comb. in 1994 before moving to their new pitch in Holland Park.

Just checked back on previous notes and I got it wrong, they actually moved to Holland Park when still members of the Staffs County League (South) in October 1990 so did not play a Jubilee Park as members of the MC.

Re: [GRIFFON] Chasewood United [In reply to] Can't Post or Reply Privately

Had a quick look at my records from my long gone refereeing days. I reffed Chasewood about ten times from 79 to 89, mostly, I think, at the ground now under the Toll Road. I am in the process of moving house in a few weeks, and a lot of my stuff is in storage, so although I don't remember any programmes being issued, I will check when I get a chance. In the meantime, I can list the games, opponents, and results in the unlikely event that anyone is interested.

If you turn up anything I would be interested to learn about it. I know Chasewood ran from the Swan in Chasetown and their colours were Sky Blue shirts and Dark Blue shorts.
I have just the one programme, from 7th November 1987 v Brereton Social Reserves, quite a nice 12 pager, and imagine they are extremely rare and difficult to find these days. My friend at Brocton believes they folded round about 1989.

Re: [AnnORack] Chasewood United [In reply to] Can't Post or Reply Privately

I wondered what had happened to this crowd or even if I'd made a mistake in my old scribblings as none of the other West Mids cognoscenti had even heard of them.
I was programme editor for Gornal back in the day and went with The Peacocks for a Walsall Senior Cup tie at Jubilee Park on 8 October 1983; Gornal won 4-1 in front of a crowd of 27, no programme.
I recall the ground being in the Hammerwich Triangle area but was never able to locate it again - now I know why.
I believe Chasewood were members of the Staffs County League (South) at the time.

They were definitely in that Staffs County League (South) in the late 1970s and appear to have disappeared around 1989 which is when they left the league.

Certainly all of the games that I referred to above were in the Staffs County Lge (South).

Managed to get my stuff out of storage at last.
No signs of any Chasewood programmes I'm afraid. It looks as if only one or two Staffs Cty Lge (S) clubs actually did programmes, and even then inconsistently, and usually of limited content.
I can trawl through them again if anyone thinks that there might be anything of use/interest.

I managed to pick up enough material to do my article but if you can add anything about the ground that would be useful. Just changing rooms I believe with little else.
Many thanks for your and the other snippets.

Re: [GRIFFON] Chasewood United [In reply to] Can't Post or Reply Privately

Not much to add really. One pitch, better than most in the league if I remember rightly, parallel to the road. Decent changing rooms. I think that there was a barrier around it (as opposed to just a rope), but nothing else. Behind one goal there was another pitch at right angles to the main pitch, and at a slightly lower level. I seem to remember that this pitch was smaller, and nearly always under water!
Where will your article be published?
