Stalwart player of the late 1960s and 1970s, Alex Rennie, died at the weekend. As a player he was with Rangers as a laddie, before moving on to Stirling Albion, St Johnstone and Dundee United. His best days were with the Perth Saints, helping them into the inaugural Premier Division in 1975. Alex then followed his former manager Willie Ormond to Hearts, coaching the Tynecastle side. He then became managerof St Johnstone, helping them to win the First Division in 1983. Later he was also manager of Stenhousemuir. A Carronshore man through and through, Alex also worked as a Driving Instructor for many years.
