You might get another vote soon. Farage is suggesting another referendum to confirm the original decision. More 'misleading' signs on buses?

I don't think he is quite suggesting another referendum, he's a very shrewd man.

And would anybody really want to go through it all again? Even most reasonable remainers accept the result but the remoaners continue to clutch at straws.

Yes letís just leave regardless of the final terms, no matter how bad they are and no matter hiow much damage they will do to the UK.

Why shouldnít be allowed to cut off our nose just to spite our face?

You know it makes sense.

You're clutching at straws.

If Farage was a 'very shrewd man' he would now be in a position of some power within the Conservative Party, not the ex-leader of a now irrelevant party.

Without Nigel Farage there would have been no referendum, his work is done.

Well I knew what my vote would bring,

Perhaps you could let everyone else know so that we could avoid the aggravation of the next 15 months. Unless you are going to say that you knew it was going to bring arguments, political backbiting, the weakest prime minister the country has seen in my lifetime and a complete failure to address any other issues for two years that is.

Two years... that's very optimistic ...

Not a lot, though she has avoided the personality by-pass that Theresa May must have undergone some time in the past.

The media eats of her hand and she is never given a hard time in any interview. They obviously fancy her to be the next or next-but-one leader of the UK Tories.

In Scotland she is a bit like McCavity. When there are hard questions to be answered she is nowhere to be seen. She's always around for a photo op though.

Scotts donít have an Assembly.

The Scots Tories will finish third in the Parliament elections, though.

Do you? Based on what evidence?

To help you here's the latest poll:

SNP 39%
Labour 26%
Tories 25%

I have just read this - its a bit long winded, but bear with it. Especially if you are not a "guardian reader" type
https://www.theguardian.com/...ook-nix-bannon-trump

In many of the arguments on here, people have argued that they have made their decisions in elections, fulling knowing the facts.
Indeed, in a true democracy, we would only make decisions knowing exactly all the facts and arguments.

If only! I make my decisions based on thinking that one set of lies may be better than another, and based on analysis of what the liars I elect may do once elected.
What this article shows it the process that now goes into targetting you with tailored lies.
In a close election, it does not take many to get affected by this, to change the result.

Now it appears that this targeting it based on illegally gained data - and that this was used basically by the highest bidder!

The genie is out of the bottle now - it cannot be pushed back into place.
Whether we like it or not, we are going to be hit by targetted advertising in future elections.

We are also going to get hit by it time and time again by commercial companies.

I think money is bringing us to a crisis of democratic legitimacy. The wealthy have always been able to bankroll parties and newspapers that benefit themselves, but there seems to be a growing trend for the very wealthiest to use their financial means to take power directly. Trump is an obvious example, but those from amongst the country's most wealthy have assumed power in Chile, the Czech Republic, Georgia, Paraguay and Ukraine amongst others in recent years.

Twas ever thus, from the rotten boroughs on.....the only difference now is that targeting of specific groups/types or even individuals can be specifically tailored thanks to technology.

Ive just taken delivery of my new smartphone and to access ceratain functions I have been asked to freely give info about myself of a personal nature, which I am loath to do. Consequently I have created a number of different emails addresses and false info to circumvent the system.

Over cautious perhaps, verging on paranoia even. But sensible in my view.

Especially in view of the fact that on my five previous visits to the voting booth I have been passed my voting slip with a handwritten note of my voter number on it. Crazy

I accept that this validates my voting slip but it's not much of a leap to then ascertain, should a malaevelant agency wish to, for which candidate I voted.

Erased citizen Wink
