China Super League 2018 Can't Post or Reply Privately

The China Super League teams will have to cope with rule changes, and a massive 55 day summer break in the season
[This could be good news for hoppers, as it means more midweek fixture lists - I am expecting there will be some points where at least 8 games can be fitted into 15 days in the country]

Last season's rule that everyone had to start with at least one U-23 player in the side did not work and caused early substitutions in many games
For the coming season, the rules regarding U-23 players have changed. Not only must there be an U-23 player on the field at all times, but the number of foreign players may not exceed the number of u-23 players. In other ways, to fill the full compliment of foreigners (3), a team also must play three U-23 players.

New to the top division this season are Dalian Yifang, after three seasons in the second division, and Beijing Renhe.
While Renhe have only been two seasons outside the top division, these are the only two seasons as a Beijing based club, at the Fengtai Stadium
In the period 2002-2015, they played top division in Shanghi, Xi'an and Guiyang. If crowds do not improve, then one wonders if they will be on the move again, (although of course, gate income is not a prime source of income to Chinese clubs)

Yanbian and Liaoning were relegated to first division, which also welcomes Heilongjiang (Harbin) and Meixian Techard (Meizhou) in place of Boading and Yunnan
The expanded League 2, still regionalised North and South includes Lhasa Chengtou amoungst its new members, although it remains to be seen if they actually play in Tibet. There play off game last season to earn promotion was played elsewhere.

The Super Cup match on Monday was the first time Chinese Clubs had to get on with the new rules.
One may have noticed that the clubs have reduced their foreign expenditure in this transfer window, (which ends tomorrow, ahead of the first league games at the weekend)
This is because of a rule that transfer feers over 5 million. For any club not making a profit, there is a 100% tax by the football association on these
There are 16 clubs in the super league. The number of clubs not making a profit in the super league is 16.
The CFA have said that getting around the rule by finding a loophole is not permitted.

The one big signing, Cedric Bakambu from Villareal to Beijing Gouan has still not been confirmed. The player has apparently bought out his Villareal contract to leave himself effectively a free agent, and mean that Gouan do not have to pat 45 million to his club. The intention was that Gouan then pay the 45 million to Bakambu (or whoever else put up the money).

The number of foreigners allowed is three.
In addition a club may field one player from "Greater China" = Taiwan, Hong Kong or Macau
If they want to field a second player from these territories, then it counts as a foreigner!
The goalkeepers must all be Chinese, no foreigners, or Greater China players

An U-23 player must start every game, and the number of U-23 players who feature in the match, whether as starters or subsitutes must be equal or greater than the number of foreigners on the field. There is no rule about the amount of time these players spend on the field

So for the super cup, both Guangzhou Evergrande and Shanghai Shenhua started with one U-23 player and three foreigners
If my dates for the players are correct, only two of the Shanghai subs were U-23, while Guangzhou had the sense to name two U-23 subs outfield, and an U-23 goalkeeper

Hence, once Shanghai had made their first substitution, in the 29th minute, the other two substitutes were known, and had to come on. The other four players on the bench were surplus as they could not longer be considered.

For Guanzhou, then first subsitution was made at 67 minutes, after which they could only play the U-23 subs. The first of these game on at 73 minutes and the second just two minutes from time. The U-23 starters did, however, play for the full 90 minutes.

The CFA have announced today that the rule on U-23 players may be relaxed in August, when the China U-23 team will be in action in the Asian games

To get around any loopholes, a club pays a player more salary than they are worth and the player buys out his existing contract leaving that player free to move for no transfer. Isn't this just a loophole?

That was the type of loophole the CFA spotted after drawing up the rule, and which they subsequently decided was not allowed.
Beijing have reportedly paid the taxes, so both Cedirc Bakambu and Jonathan Viera (11 million from Las Palmas) will be available at the weekend
