Clifford should been hung

Whilst I despise the odious turd, I think hanging is too severe as there always could be a miscarriage of justice. Clifford croaking it in prison has been very enjoyable. I will settle for that.

By the way, it's hanged not hung and as he is dead there is not much point in discussing it, especially with Gareth.

Certain crimes need the ultimate punishment, i.e. Child abuse multiple murders and rape

This should been done after he was found guilty, I'm an advocate of bringing back hanging

So you don't allow for an appeal process?

Not convinced by the need to kill criminals to make us all feel better. They should spend the appropriate amount of time in prison, for many that will mean the rest of their lives.

People who support the death penalty have never been able to come up with a good answer to what happens if someone is wrongly executed in a miscarriage of justice. This question should be asked more often but the press rarely bother putting it to the pro-capital punishment lobby.

Never understand the Argument for those who want to bring the death penalty back. For instance, if a hijacker shot someone on a plane who they had taken hostage knowing they would get the death penalty, they might as well kill all the other passengers. They would still be hanged for killing either one or two hundred passengers. Also hanging is the easy was out and too good for most murderers.

Re: [garethwrexy] Max Clifford [In reply to] Can't Post or Reply Privately

Moving this on from the capital punishment debate, the thing that gets me is how all this condemnation of Clifford is all over the media conveniently after he died.

It's clear he was a nasty piece of work - but someone kept buying the stories (often literally stories in that they were made up) to make the front pages of the tabloids and lots of copies of those tabloids were sold.

So is the real unpleasantness at the core of all this the fact that this is another example of people's ability to turn a blind eye to the unpleasantness of the messenger if the story is suitably titilating?

(as in : OOOOhh! Isn't that Clifford awful!! Have you heard about the blonde model, two premiership players and a West End hotel?)
