Reply, thanks to Gricehead's extremely informative wiki pages, I have been able to break down the number of clubs in the competition this season
My total is 7149. 6934 from Mainland France, with 215 from the Outre Mer territories

The Wiki page gives a round by round record for the five French overseas departments, but not for the collectivities of New Hebridies and Tahiti, I have therefore only included one team from each of these in the total. There is therefore reasons to increase my figures

In the attached spreadsheet, cells B2 to N8 show the number of ties in each round, by region - and hence the number of clubs knocked out
By adding the number through to round 7, (same as number of ties in round 6), row 13 shows the number of clubs from each region entered, excluding clubs at Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 level.

Column O works out the total for the Mainland (which includes Corsica)
Columns P-T repeat this for the five overseas departments, with column U giving the overseas total
The total number of outre mer clubs in cell U13 includes +2 for Lossi (New Caledonia) and Tefana (Tahiti)

There is no separately identified qualifying stage for either New Caledonia or Tahiti. The champions of the cup competition in each country qualify for the 7th round of the Coupe de France. I believe this is optional and the champions can elect to be passed over in favour of the runners-up etc.

The New Hebrides which were jointly administered by the UK and France became independent as Vanuatu in 1980.
Surely they don't enter teams in the French Cup.
Do the Wallis and Futuna islands or St. Pierre and Miquelon enter any teams. There is certainly football in SPM.

Yes, it's New Caledonia that Lossi was qualified from. I was (badly) trying to make the connection between New Caledonia and the New Hebrides in Leo's post.

The short answer to your overseas territories question is no. I can't explain (at this stage) why.

Sorry, must be a "Senior" moment, even though I still don't qualify

France appears to have four collectivities with no representation in the French Cup
They are Saint Barthelemy, Saint Martin, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, and Wallis and Futana
Together, these four have a total population of 63,000
The smallest population of the seven with representation is 227,000 (Mayotte)

All 11 have representation in both houses of the French parliament, and vote for the President.

Before they split from Guadeloupe (2007), I imagine representatives from St. Barthelemy and St. Martin could enter through the Guadeloupe qualification.
As far as I know, there is no way of the others getting into the cup at present, but the FFF have been expanding the foreign representation, it attracts attention and news coverage. It is not impossible that it could be expanded further so long as the sponsors are happy with it.

That's why I never watch, just wait until the end and read the results.
I assume the one I linked to is the "raw" draw, and some matches are to be reversed

That page has the correct draw, with fixtures reversed where required (apart from one - Entente SSG tie will be reversed if Blanc Mesnil beat Épinal in the rearranged 8th round tie)

Ties are reversed if there is a 2 or more level gap between the teams, with the lower ranked team being at home.

They reverse them on the fly during the draw (although there was confusion at the 7th round draw as they had the wrong levels on some of the team-slips)

When a big club plays an amateur club it is traditional for the big club to hand back its share of receipts to the host.

In Round 8, Ligue 2 Valenciennes visited National 3 Evreux but went home with their share of the receipts - approximately 2500 euros.

VA claimed they had kept the receipts because their President wasn't given a proper welcome by his Evreux counterpart. VA's own fans were critical saying the club's actions had brought great dishonour upon the club and they started a collection to hand over the missing funds to Evreux.

By this time VA had been sufficiently shamed and a meeting was arranged between the two Presidents where the receipts were handed bsck to Evreux.

The Feignies-Aulnoye situation just won't go away:

http://www.lavoixdunord.fr/280752/article/2017-12-14/au-cnosf-l-entente-feignies-aulnoye-au-moins-ete-ecoutee-cette-fois

According to Feignies-Aulnoye's representative, the CNOSF see their case as "favourable" (although the FFF didn't attend the session). They reckon there's a chance they will be reinstated and Le Mans will have to play an additional "8th round" tie against them.

More likely, in my opinion, that the FFF will just shove some cash their way.

With Chambly at the other end of the table to when I saw them last season, that is a very good result
Pity that the game had to be switched to Beauvais, but I am not surprised that Marais was not suited

Although the semi-finals of this year's tournament have only just completed, the qualifying rounds for the 2018-19 tournament are already underway.

The first round in Mayotte took kicked off on Wednesday (after a month or sol delayed due to countrywide national protests and civil disruption).

On the mainland, Paris - Île-de-France regional league plays it's first round starting with one match this weekend (22nd), and then the remaining 190 or so fixtures next weekend (29th)

The Grand-Est regional league will be next to kick off, with a first round sometime in June, assuming they can catch up with all their postponed league commitments by then.

Fixtures, results and the inevitable sanctions will appear at http://en.wikipedia.org/...e_Preliminary_Rounds

Two quick questions.
1) Which is the match this Sunday?
2) Did you do a count of the total number of teams for 2017-18? (does that include Outre Mer)

No, I never did a complete count. I didn't keep track last year of the byes at each round so without going through all the files I keep I wouldn't manage that in retrospect (unless I get a very quiet few hours). I've improved on that process this year so should be able to provide a proper count.

Thanks - Chelles is the wrong side of Paris from Belleme, so I don't think I'll attempt it.
I might have given it a thought if it was, for example, close to Versailles.
Belleme is where I am staying this weekend - and on most of my short trips in France.

Counting the number of clubs is actually easier than that. You just need to count the number of ties.
The number of clubs is the number of ties plus one (for the winner)

My calculation (see attachment) is 7142 entries, of which 204 are from the 5 overseas departments
For New Caledonia and Tahiti, only one club has been included, these are "bundled" into the 176 in Round 7.

Some clubs will have forfeited, but if included in the draws - as on the wiki pages Gricehead works through, they are included in the count

You'll certainly get close, probably to within 10, via that method. There are a number of regions/districts where clubs enter in round 1, and and then get byes in round 2, due to rounds 1 and 2 being administered by the districts and them not having enough rounds to work the maths to get down to the number of teams the region requires them to put into round 3. You've also got mergers taking place in those regions where the first 1 (or 2) rounds are played before the summer break. Both clubs qualify and then merge, meaning one club less in the draw for the next round.
