Dave "Ratty" Rattenberry (Wolverhampton Wanderers supporter) Can't Post or Reply Privately

Very sad news today that Dave "Ratty" Rattenberry has passed away having recently been diagnosed with lymphona, no further news. Larger than life at times, Dave worked in Speedway souvenirs, a loyal Wolves fan who loved both sports, travelling far and wide for both. A good friend, R.I.P. Dave

Just spoken to John Partridge (a non poster) who told me that he was rung by Ratty's brother earlier today who informed him that he was discovered dead by Dave's nephew (who lived with him) when he returned from his night shift last night. John spoke to Dave at around 5.30 pm last night and he was clearly very ill. Very sad news and another enormous loss to the groundhopping community.

I have known "Ratty" for many, many years - right from the start of my groundhopping obsession.
He will be greatly missed by all.

I met Dave regularly on 'the circuit' in the 80s and 90s. Nice man. R.I.P.

I didn't know him as well as many on here, but I bumped into him at many and varied places over the years. Very sad news.

Thoughts are with his family and friends.

Very sad news indeed. I first met Dave at the African Cup of Nations in Tunisia in 2004. Groundhoppers corner at Stourbridge wont quite be the same without him. R.I.P. my friend.

first met him with his Edinburgh speedway programme stall at Powderhall in late 1980s, and at many football games.
he was on the April Serbian hop, and I spoke with him 10-14 days ago when he had to cancel the current one, he was most disappointed.
Some of us had dinner in Belgrade on Thursday at which Dave Woodings proposed the toast to absent friends and when the majority of the group were here by Friday evening, John Higgins similarly did likewise at dinner, Nice by both.
very sadly missed
