Abandoned Grounds Can't Post or Reply Privately

Couldn't see a thread on this site yet for a weird love of mine, the abandoned stadium.

So far I've snooped around

Nene Park: http://partizanbristle.blogspot.co.uk/...ushden-diamonds.html

Strahov Stadium: http://partizanbristle.blogspot.co.uk/...strahov-stadium.html

Brandon Stadium (Speedway): http://partizanbristle.blogspot.co.uk/...m-coventry-bees.html

Anyone share this passion or have any interesting visits under their belt?

Back in 1987 I visited The Valley, during the time that Charlton had moved out and were sharing at Selhurst. I climbed over a gate and explored the whole ground - all 4 sides, changing rooms, exec boxes, offices, the lot. Fascinating, and more than a little sad, especially as I had attended their "last" game there a couple of years earlier. Very happy to see the club back home again and with a much-improved ground.

In those pre-digital days, I shot a whole roll of film. I'll have to see if I can find it and scan some on here.

The comments about the Valley reminds me that in the early 80's, I walked around Barking's old Vicarage Field ground (I never saw a game there) and although the stand had gone, all the terracing was still there. I didn't even have to climb over a fence to gain entry! Sadly this was before I had a camera, and a quick Google search hasn't thrown up any photos of the ground.

Yes. And yes. There's something haunting about abandoned stadiums......

Plus, this website/forum might float your boat. There's a lot of other stuff on it, but you might find a few stadiums buried in there......

The 'Derelict London' website has been highlighted on this forum in the past, but it is always worth exploring, and there is a good section on abandoned London sports stadiums...
