Parents and planes.

I'm not sure that my 92 year old mother has ever been on a plane. My father certainly did fly on a few but only when King and Country wished him luck and sent him off to the back of beyond of the back of beyond in WW2.

My paternal Grandma, who certainly never flew, was born before the Wright Brothers' powered flights. The only time she even spoke of craft in the air was when she told us of watching a Zeppelin in a raid over South Yorkshire in WW1. Over half a century later she stayed up all night with me, waiting to watch the TV coverage of Neil Young taking his one small step.

As for drinking and planes I don't think the two mix well. I certainly didn't touch a drop before my first flight as it involved me being in the plane for the take-off but not for the landing.

1969 was a good year for him, he won the F.A.Cup as well.

Many who choose to drink before flying aren't sensible. That's the problem.

Some are calling for a maximum 2 drinks before boarding. How can this possibly work with bars all over the place especially at the international airports.

Maybe having to put all duty free alcohol purchased in the hold might help.

No such thing as duty free, of course. Is the stuff they sell at airports any cheaper than you could buy elsewhere?

Depends where you are flying to.

On a personal note I've not touched a drop at an airport for 5 years due to the smoking ban. I hit the toilets for a crafty drag in Sydney and Nice but it's not worth the potential hassle it could bring so I stay well clear of all bars these days.

I think they plan to scan you boarding ticket on airside but landside you could still have what you want I presume.
