Parked Police Car Can't Post or Reply Privately

Almost opposite my house for the last five days there has been a parked Police car. It's half on the pavement half on the road, it's four foot back from an urban clearway and is on yellow lines. The bit of road it's on is a service road for the houses but the position it has been parked in makes turning into the service road dangerous. The back end of it is part blocking the car park to the local Methodist Chapel. Also it's making it very difficult for the two houses at the end of the service road to access their drives.

Since Monday evening a number of calls to the Police have received total uninterest and basically could not care less response. A neighbour looked into the car and it does not seem to have any radio equipment. We are beginning to think it may be a fake police car. It's a 10 plate which seems a bit old for a police car. It's got a local reg but that does not help as many TV police cars do as well due to the largest film / TV vehicle hiring service being based locally.

My neighbours are more perplexed than anything but the ones on the otherside of the road may have more to say about it.

Does sound like a fake one although if it looks 'real' surely the police should be taking a bit more interest?

Phone the police and tell them you can smell sulphur around the vehicle. They will be out in 5 minutes or have it clamped.

One rumour is as it's half on the road half and the path next to an Urban clearway no one knows who responsibility it is to take it away and foot the bill. Police, City Council or County Council. My view is fake or not the police should be taking an interest. Confirmed it has no visable radio equipment.

If the car was dumped then it must be a council matter. Check if the wheels and tyres are in good condition, you might get a good price for those on ebay Laugh

Funny that's one of the reasons it does not look right. The wheel trim looks to flash, almost boy racer for the police. Seen a few people eyeing it up but it's in such a prominent place they would be noticed. The police will see it at some point as it's 30 yards from a speed camera and it's going to appear in every shot. It's only half a mile from the local police station and another one has been spotted even nearer. Either someone is having a laugh or the police have use of a number of dummy cars they are parking next to the busiest roads in the area, as today is the sixth day it seems a bit OTT.

Maybe this is an experimental speed reduction scheme.

It appeared overnight Sunday through Monday between 11pm and 5am. It has now vanished Saturday through Sunday again between 11pm and 5am. Whatever it was and whoever put it there they were keeping strange hours.

Is someone sleeping in it? With high rent and living costs more and more people are turning to a van life or sleeping in their car.

For a 10 plate it was immaculate both inside and out, very clean, new tyres and nice wheel trim. We will never know now unless it appears somewhere else and people ask the same questions. A few people took photos of it on their phones and put it on social media.

My neighbour did and there was a query, not sure the plate was on the right vehicle. A few people were on the case and everyone drew blanks or never had their calls returned by the police / council. One neighbour was told by the police we probably won't come back to you on this matter, that was after the reg was given and car details supplied.

Just done my own research. The reg is a police vehicle, it's road legal but according to the online inventory it's not allocated to this area but West Oxfordshire. Says it's done 93k and is a general purpose vehicle pool car.

No, did not like apples as the whole area had been built on an old orchard and everyone had apple trees in their back gardens. At certain times of the year nearly all puddings had some apple content.

Think the answer to the Police car is that it's in the process of being disposed and was just park at the side of the road - to slow traffic down?. It looked "decommissioned" (no radio) and had been smarted up for sale. It had only been taxed and MOTed a month or so ago aaccording to the DVLA. Think everyone who was contacted were a bit perplexed by it's appearance and maybe was not on record as being on duty. I presume the police don't normally have enough spare cars to just leave them parked randomly for a week.

You will be surprised how many people now live a van life. Even a car/mpv can be made into comfortable, although cramped, living space. When you consider the cost of rent in the UK these days, van living is a viable and very cheap option. Pick up a van for around 2000 kit it out for about 1000 and you have a home on wheels without any annoying neighbours. I don't do this myself, just in case you were wondering.

You might be surprised to know, Molders, that where I live we quite often get police walking the streets especially early evenings. And on occasions they walk in pairs.
When I moved in to my current house I had a visit from my local CPO who introduced herself and gave me her card in case we ever needed police assistance.

On the way home from work, I saw a car being driven by a policeman and it wasn't a police car.
Do you think he might have stolen it ? Looked very suspicious to me.
