That's not good news. Thought the BBC always did a good job with women's football

Being heavily involved with womens football, I always watch their games on the TV where possible.

Personally, I don't care about silly stupid commentators/pundits remarks - I just turn the sound off !

If Channel 4 are showing it I assume they will only show the England and Scotland games or do Channel 4 have a red button like the BBC?
The BBC used to share coverage with Eurosport. I was able to watch virtually all games in the last tournament.

Just bought tickets for England's first two games and Germany v Italy (20 each) so no problem with TV pundits for those games!

According to an independent website which lists football on various TV channels, Channel 4 will only be showing the England and Scotland games live on TV. The other games may only be shown on their website. This was the case with the Denmark v. England game today.

Watch tonight's game but got me thinking was the group draw fixed to create neighbour draws in the group stage by that I mean GroupA (Netherlands/Belgium) and (Norway/Denmark) Group B (Sweden/Russia) (Germany/Italy) Group C (Switzerland/Austria) (France could be paired with Switzerland) (Iceland only odd one out qualifier) Group D (England/Scotland) (Spain/Portugal) or did it just happen that way?

I am sure the draw was done by seeding not geography. Although Russia and Sweden has a short border, few people would regard this a 'derby' game, nor is it a traditional rivalry in football terms. Germany and Italy are not neighbours, you have Austria and Switzerland between them.

It was just a thought not saying it was fixed/rigged as Austria/Italy, France/Switzerland Germany/Denmark and Norway/Iceland would be more obvious pairings

I was so not even technically a 'derby match'. Historically however Sweden and Russia have a border.

It's called Finland. Both countries have laid claim to this area which is now a demilitarised zone patrolled by reindeer with sharp pointy antlers. Laugh

Penalty to Spain.... OH WAIT, ref changed her mind. Overall the ref in the England - Spain game was poor but this was the icing on the cake. My personal opinion was that it wasn't a penalty, ball to hand since the player was slipping backwards and having her arm in that position was natural. She did actually make contact with the the ball with her foot before it hit her hand. You can't expect a player to put their arm behind their back when falling backwards. The ground was very wet and slippy which led to the defender losing her footing.

Earlier in the game England scored a goal which was disallowed. Scorer wasn't offside when the ball was played and this seems to set to tone for the ref for the rest of the game.

I haven't seen the game so for what I know the ref might have been poor for the remaining 89 minutes. But I think it was a brave decision to not give the penalty. It seems that she gives a thumb-up to the linesman just after reversing the decision so probably getting and taking advice from the assistant. Nothing wrong with that, I think.

I also wouldn't have given a penalty.

In the Norway v Denmark game tonight the Norwegian keeper had a nasty gash in her underarm after a collision with a Danish forward. The keeper then had stitches while lying on the pitch - and played on!

Glad to see that it was all sorted out by a few small pricks.
