West Midlands travel Can't Post or

I was just wondering what is the cheapest or good value tickets to buy to travel around the West Midlands. Bearing in mind I do not live in the area so the swift card or direct debit would be no good for me. what tickets or passes do you use if you live in or visit the area? Cheers.

There's a 'network day tripper' for 6.50 (after 0930) which covers the trains buses and metro in the Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Coventry areas, but there are other prices if you want to go further, or earlier in the day.

After 09.30 travel does not apply to weekend trips.

6.50 that is pretty good for the area it covers.

If you are not going to use the trains and only want to use the bus and Midland Metro there's a 5 all day ticket for that.

A bus only is 4

Make sure you always have the right money as buses in Birmingham don't give change, forcing many people to pay over the odds.

Most areas seem to do offers like these but sometimes it's hard finding out about them.

As most buses are now touch in payment do the companies cap fares like in London if using Oyster or a Debit card.

If using Transport for London it is sometimes cheaper to use a debit card than an Oyster card. Debit calculates journeys in slightly differently ways and changes you the cheapest option, Oyster does not. If you do a number of journeys in zone 1 Oyster charges you for every journey up to the daily cap but debit only charges you as high as the zone one card day rate.
