Bob Davies "Red Robbo" (Groundhopper) Can't Post or

Had a Round Robin Email from Brian Buck last night, it contained the news that Bob had passed away. Below I reproduce Brian's words.

"Bob Davies.

Itís my very sad duty to tell you that last Tuesday we lost Bob Davies after a long illness. Although he was an avid local Groundhopper, going under the name of Red Robbo on the forum, he was also very involved with Speedway and Ice Hockey. He was a great communicator in print and was at one point programme editor at Langford. He also ran their website. Then until just under a year ago he ran the Potton United website. He will be missed by all who knew him and by those who benefitted from his literary and IT contributions"

Sorry to hear this sad news. Saw Bob at Colney Heath a few years back as he was reviewing his snaps at half time. Struck me as a quiet man but a passion for football mainly in the Herts, Cambs areas. RIP

Very sad news. I met him a few times and he was knowledgeable about local football, very helpful, and always entertaining to chat to.

I understand that Bob had cancer, he was diagnosed about 8 months ago and was given 3 to 6 months to live at the end of last year, his wishes were not to let people know - he didn`t want the fuss. That seemed to apply as much to football as to speedway, Rye House being one of his haunts.

In addition to Langford and Potton he had also helped with the programme at Ware.

It was always good to chat with Bob who will be missed.

I only just found this sad news after reading Brian Buck's tribute in Friday's Potton programme.. I met Bob a few times on my travels to random games in the local area - he was a great guy who loved his football and his family.

Sad times. My thoughts are with his family and close friends at this time.
