Witney & District Football League 2017/18 Can't Post or

Provisional division line ups at

http://witneyanddistrict.pitchero.com/2017-18-season-36888

Increase of four teams on last, or so I'm told.

Looks like Bourton have moved their 3rd XI over from the Cheltenham League.

Division Two sees the reserve Fosseway Derby of Bourton and Moreton.

Nice see Bletch now having Reserve side and spelt correctly. .

Your info is correct we are up 4 on last season. Are there many other local leagues that can say that?
Bourton have bought what effectively was their Res team over from the Cheltenham League to play in our league.
For some reason we are always seen as the poor relation in Oxon football, not sure why?
But the Oxon Senior, North Berks and Banbury Leagues always get a better press than us.

The Devon & Exeter League has potentially got 6 new clubs and 8 reserve teams joining, with three withdrawals.

Is there a reason they can't jus be called Carterton Town and Carterton Town Reserves, ie the same naming format everyone else goes by in this league?

It is an historic thing I guess. There used to be one club, Carterton Town, with 2 teams in the Hellenic and 2 in WDFA, so the two sides in our league became A & B They then had quite an acrimonious split.
The Hellenic side became simply Carterton with the WDFA and all the kids sides keeping the Town moniker.
They have simply kept the names ever since.

Sadly we have lost our first team today. FC Ascott have withdrawn their first team from Division 1.
Pretty much all of the lads were RAF Brize Norton personnel and since the beginning of September have been either in the Caribbean or Cyprus helping prepare stuff to help the victims of the Hurricanes.
The league gave them pretty much all of September off, but sadly the situation has not improved and they only have 3 or 4 players that could commit to playing at the moment.
