Shock ?

July 1, 2019 to June 30,2020 = 35 / 30/ 5/ inc 2 x 0-0's. (You know my rules) @ 11 / 08 / 2019.
2019/20. Benelux = Bel = 0-0-0-(0-0-0)-(0-2-3-2)/ Lux = 0-3 / Neth = 0-0-0-(2 - 2) Others France = 0-0 / Germany =0-0-0 / Italy =0-3/ Iberia = P = 0-1 & S = 0-1.

I guess I believed her when she said she wouldn't call an early election!

This might really complicate matters if we don't get a Conservative Majority.

How can The Prime Minister legitimately turn down on Scottish Indepence vote on the basis we don't want any distractions? This is a massive distraction.

Suspect the LD's will do very very well.

Seems a logical decision.
She was never voted in as prime minister, this will enable her to be elected in her own right.
She should win easily with there being no strong opposition currently.
This will give her 5 years at the helm instead of just 3.

It requires Labour to vote for the motion to have a General Election. For its MPS to do so would be akin to turkeys voting for Christmas.

Labour will be annihilated if they play the Tories' game.

What they should do is wait till 2020. Oppose the GE Motion, let the Tories stew in the Brexit mess of their own making for the next three years, get rid of Corbyn - and Labour will walk the 2020 GE.

'The country is coming together, but Westminster is not'.

Did Theresa May REALLY say that? She's having a laugh!

I agree - she's performed (another) U-turn because she's worried about Brexit and she thinks that a General Election will sort out her opponents, both Conservative and non-Conservative.

She's probably right.

On the other hand, it may also focus the opposition better afterwards, too, with a new leader. But too late for the forseeable future.

If you're going to/been to a Hampshire Premier League match, I'd really appreciate you filling in a questionnaire - available in the Groundhopping/General section, or just PM me for a copy. Thanks.

The polls will never be better for the Tories & the shambles of a Labour Party has allowed them to get away with mismanaging the country. Yet another massive U-turn by the Tory Party. But I expect an massive 1931 GE defeat for the Labour Party.

I think her main worry is that she's about to lose 20 MPs when the Tory election fraud investigations are completed.

With such short notice, where is the funding coming from for all but the wealthy Tory party?
It also doesn't give Corbyn much of a chance to de-select Labour MP's who have opposed him ie most of them.
With politics worldwide being so unpredictable at the moment, Maggie May is taking a huge gamble. This will unite the country in the same way that Manchester United v. City will unite Manchester!

Don't Labour have a huge cash haul off the back of the two Corbyn leadership elections? I seem to remember tens of thousands joining to vote for him.

Excellent timing by Mrs May. Wait until MP's are away on Easter break, call in the cabinet and tell them to prepare for a general election in 7 weeks time. The other parties will already be ready to roll but Mrs May has the Tories out of the traps while the rest are still looking at the scenery.

There is a risk in going to the polls, as David Cameron recently found out, but with the opposition parties in disarray then this is probably the best time for the Mrs May to have an election. The Tories only have a 4 seat majority at the moment so it wouldn't take much for Labout to win but are the people of Britain willing to but Jeremy Corbyn into Number 10? This is a big test of his leadership and the future direction of the Labour Party.

If Jeremy Corbyn becomes Prime Minister, I'm leaving the country.

TBH, it's very difficult for Labour to win an election outright if the SNP hold Scotland.

Probably see LD's take seats off of Labour & Tories, but Tories also take seats directly off of Labour.

We should end up with an increased Tory majority (& no Ken Clarke), together with the DUP / UUP should give Theresa May a 50-60 seat majority.

I may have misinterpreted his intentions. I can't see anything has said yet since the GE announcement. He's so out of step with the party on Europe, I wonder if he'll hang on just to annoy Mrs May.

Seat projection based on latest polls:

Tories: 400
Labour: 162
SNP: 54
LD:10
NI: 18
Other: 6

Tory Majority - 150

Personally I think the LD's will do much better than that.

I see Theresa May is too frit to participate in any TV debates.

I hope BBC/ITV have the balls to empty-chair her.
