Have the Premier League finish on 14th and play the Cup Final on 20th. Simples.

Yes simples but it seems the FA organising committee are also simples. The only drawback to the 20th is the Europa League Final on the 24th, so again the FA might be waiting to see who plays in which final before making a decision.

Oh dear, all those friendlies arranged for 6/8/16 for step 5 clubs will have to be cancelled and some may have been good money spinners

I would imagine most of the lucrative PSF's, i.e. against Football League sides/XI's, would be held mainly in the first half of July?

Plenty of ECL clubs unhappy with the decision to start the league on the 30th July. Apparently it will be 'optional' for clubs to start that day. Whether that means any will start in that first midweek before the FA Cup, or start their league campaigns after the FA Cup weekend, remains to be seen?

Some clubs will also have issues with getting their pitch ready in time for July 30th - whether they have ripped up the pitch and have added new drainage, or are completing work on a new 3G surface, etc.

Last match:
Monday 17th October 2016
Aveley 1-1 Phoenix Sports (Isthmian League Division 1 North)

Next scheduled match:
Tuesday 18th October 2016
Burnham Ramblers v Haringey & Waltham (Essex Senior League)

The new season will start for many just 4 days after the schools break up for the summer holidays!

Summer football? It's already with us.

Interesting to see from the FA competitions list of dates that the FA don't want to tell you when the first leg games of the first rounds of the European club competitions are being played. Presumably they are in the last week in June but it seems the FA want to pretend that June doesn't exist.

Start 30/06. As you say not on the FA calender!

Given the early start to the FA Cup dare we dream that those people at the FA will release the opening round fixtures a week early

Hopefully Friday 1st July then this year; although even if they announce it in advance that it will be then, I won't fully believe until the draw goes up...

Should have been Friday 1st in 2011 but the draws were delayed (possibly by the Rushden & Diamonds business).

With the 2015/16 now coming to a close, The Football League can confirm some key dates for the 2016/17, which promises to be yet another exciting one.
The newly-branded Sky Bet EFL will kick-off on the weekend of Saturday 6th August 2016 but, before that, the all-important fixture release day will take place on 22nd June 2016.

The opening round of matches will be immediately followed by the first round of the League Cup, during the week commencing 8th August 2016, while Round 1 of the League Trophy will take place during the week commencing 29th August 2016.

The Christmas period is always an exciting time and there will be the usual bumper festive schedule in the Sky Bet EFL, with matches being held on Boxing Day, New Year's Eve, and on Monday 2nd January 2017.

Key dates: Click here to see all the Key Dates for the Sky Bet EFL

After the League Cup Semi-Finals in January, the showpiece final of the competition will be held on Sunday 26th February 2017, followed by the League Trophy Final on Sunday 2nd April 2017.

Matchday 46 the final round of games in Sky Bet League One will take place on Sunday 30th April 2017, while the Sky Bet Championship and Sky Bet League Two will come to a close on Saturday 6th May 2017.

We all know what's next the Sky Bet Play-Offs!

The Sky Bet Play-Off Finals will be played over split weekends due to the FA Cup Final taking place on Saturday 27th May 2017.

As a result, the Sky Bet League One Play-Off Final will take place the previous Saturday (20th May), with the Sky Bet League Two Play-Off Final on Sunday 28th May 2017 and the Sky Bet Championship Play-Off Final being played on Monday 29th May 2017.

So what happens if a club reaches the Championship play-off and the FA Cup Final?

The FA Cup is always planned to be an all PL affair, the FA don't think any team is capable of reaching both finals, or so it seems. At some point in the future the FA and EFL will get their fingers burnt by this scenario.

It would have been better to play the Championship final on the 20th and L1 on the 29th

I make it 7 football days at Wembley each May now.
This is not counting other sports or events , or England national team games.
Maybe Wembley is becoming overloaded with matches in this month
Given we have 8 Saturdays and Sundays and 1 bank holiday Monday 9 days to fit 7 matches in should work, but the first weekend is not much use as league seasons are only just finishing and have semi final play offs to consider, so only the womens cup final can be considered for the first weekend which leaves 6 matches in 7 days, however the Womens cup final could always be played in June, given their season.
The Trophy /vase final could always be earmarked for the first weekend also.
The Bank Holiday weekend usually is for the 3 league play offs.
One of the major issues is that the premier league end date keep moving which then has a knock on effect for the F A Cup, which in turn as we can see this year affects the play offs

F A Cup Final
Womens F A Cup Final
Championship play off
League 1 play off
League 2 play off
National League Play off
F A Trophy/Vase day

Not even a case of capability. When Millwall got to the Final in 2004, they didn't draw a single Premier League club in the five previous rounds.

It can sometimes, literally, be down to the 'luck of the draw'.
