Walking Football Can't Post or Reply Privately

This may all just be part of a stunt by Barclays as even the linked article is sponsored by them but I keep seeing mention of walking football.

Has anyone here seen a match - or even taken part in one?

It's the new trendy in thing by the F.A. I see Oxford City had a walking football session last night 3.50 to have a go. Seen that advert and they say it's for the over 50's but most of players look over 65 and out of condition and appear to be sweating buckets from playing it. Presume it has to be graded otherwise you could have some miss matches and injuries.

Sounds very much like a French league match or a pre-season friendly, but with older players.Smile

Yep, played in Wednesbury a couple of times. Dodgy knees and the fact that I am an old fat bastard means proper football is out for me these days. It's good fun, but damned hard not to break into a jog when a pass is played just too far in front of you.

Quite popular down here in Eastbourne , Borough have a team who compete in local competitions, and I have seen ads for groups in Hastings and Lewes.

Eastbourne does have the right age demographic for it.

No doubt it will have the usual hazard of senior age sport Unsure

A guy I work with had to give up football because of injury and took up crown green bowls. Being then only in his 20s he's had to cope with plenty of banter about it being an old man's sport, and yes, he has had games interrupted by a player exiting this life.

A few years back I was amused to see that an indoor televised bowls event was sponsored by Co-op Funeral Services.
