Didn't Brian also play for Skelmersdale in their glory days of the '70's?

RIP Brian

I'm pleased I had the opportunity to see you play.

Only saw him play once, Doncaster Rovers v Liverpool FA Cup 3rd Round Replay in 1974. It was a Tuesday afternoon kick-off due to power cuts and I forgot to go to school that day Wink I went to the game instead.

And Doncaster's 2-2 draw at Anfield was the first game I ever attended.

Brian Hall was always one of those quiet, unassuming players whose real impact was often only noticed when he wasn't playing. A true pro and a true gent.

He didn't play for Skem, that was Steve Heighway. But both were university graduates who signed for Liverpool after getting their degrees. How times change..

And you might recall the replay shouldn't have been necessary. Doncaster hit the bar in the last few minutes of the game with the score at 2-2.

Brian was never in the spotlight during a game but a very important part of Shankly's first team.

Until I read his obituaries I had never realised he was born in Glasgow.
