North Fetrriby United Can't Post or Reply Privately

Good old social media is awash with talk that NFU are applying for a one-or-more division demotion.
Does anyone have anything more solid?

Hull City fans are saying that this is a veiled threat to the PL/FA, over the Hull Tigers name bollocks.

Don't really buy into that one. They claimed last week they had achieved everything they wanted to at NFU (what if they had not won the FAT cos you do not budget for that one forgive the pun) PL/FA don't really come into it but i can see where Hull City fans are coming from..

Obviously not good timing, but they did announce a couple of weeks ago the club was for sale, so any real white knight that wanted to own a successful football team should have jumped at the chance, to buy club, unless the asking price is very stupid

The village of North Ferriby has about 3800 residents and anyone with any sense wouldn't touch the football club with a barge pole. The should find their own level and hopefully they will still play at the Grange Lane ground in years to come. But lets be honest this could be the death knell for this club.

They've qualified for Conference North next season, they should play in it. Just because it's not any fun getting relegated, doesn't mean they should be allowed to take the easy way out.

North Ferriby is a pretty affluent village, too. How many of its 3,800 residents were ever going to have any interest in something like non-league football? Hardly any. This little adventure was always going to end in tears.

If because of the finances they were to field a team that were getting hammered every week then surely it's best for the sake of the Conference North that they are out of it.

No. Someone has to come bottom, clubs shouldn't be allowed to enjoy the good times and then opt out of the bad times. The same should have applied to Canvey and Grays, and the same should apply to Eastleigh and Whitehawk when the inevitable happens. While I wouldn't urinate on Histon if they were on fire, at least they done getting back to their natural level properly.

Even if they paid their players nothing next season, they might not be able to afford the travel expense & other costs. Staying in the CN might bankrupt the club.

Wasn't their someone on this forum. Continually banging on about their club being placed in the CN and the costs incurred. If NFU have had the credit cards taken away & the CN's costs are beyond them. Then surely dropping down the pyramid, is sanity & not nonsense. What would you prefer! That they go belly-up & take their medicine!

Surely this would just be a further nail in the coffin? If a club like this has all the funding taken out, then the few remaining supporters will not want to see 2 or 3 seasons of bottom of the league football. Surely, it's better to save what the club has left before that's killed by an uncompetitive team also? Furthermore, I doubt the new National League will want a basket case in its first season.

Any club should have the option to resign from any league, and apply for another. Its hardly a new concept.

I'm guessing that their loyal fans gate receipts don't cover their operating costs... realising this, they're taking the drastic step to reduce their costs and going down a level or 2.

Probably worth everybody holding fire for now as there has been no official word that NFU are seeking voluntary demotion yet. We've all picked up on quotes made on twitter from their captain possibly made in the heat of the moment having been left stunned at being told he's got to find a new club, along with his team-mates, and taken them as gospel.
His comments may prove to have been bang on or might be exaggerating the situation. Whatever happens a shake up looks on the cards at NFU unless new sponsors come forward as they can't afford to run with the present set-up and squad of players otherwise. Perhaps the owners are hoping the publicity might bring someone forward?
It's a huge shame, but there are plenty of clubs operating in the top levels of non-league football who wouldn't be there without a benefactor or major sponsor, many of whom are simply not as high profile a case as FGR though.

If the owners want someone to buy the club at top dollar, it's going to have to happen in the next few days. Because the Conference/National league will want answers imminently & the club need to know what they can afford to do immediately as well.

If Ferriby do drop to steps 4 or 5, they're only back to where they've been a good competitive club for most of the time I've been following non-league. With the help of benefactors, they've enjoyed their day in the sun but, in the absence of a wealthy new owner, it sounds like no-one is going to get financially burned by them going back to their natural level.

I'm probably in a minority here but I don't see anything wrong with all this - the recent glory wasa bonus that would never otherwise have happened, of course it wasn't sustainable and, as far as I know, at least it's all been paid for.

It's not the travelling costs that are beyond them - it's the fact they've been paying the squad thousands a week that they can no longer sustain. One player was 'earning in excess of £700 per week' according to this - http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/...87-detail/story.html.

Even if travelling costs were £2000 per away game, which they won't be, their gate receipts should be covering that.

That aside, my view is that if they want to drop a level or two then that's their choice and good luck to them.
