Approx 50 clubs?? Can't Post or Reply Privately

Mike Appleby says there are around 50 clubs currently not compliant with grade G operating at step 6.
I am surprised its that many.
Is there anyone who could have a reasonable attempt at naming them all.

The problem with that is that gradings aren't generally made public, at least not in one list.
The CCL has three that fail - Sheerwater, Farleigh Rovers and Worcester Park.
There are 13 step 6 divisions that have clubs who don't meet the grading in all. Listing those without floodlights is an obvious start but there will be probably be some that may look the part to the casual spectator but could be missing something behind the scenes. Plus, the approx. 50 is probably based on gradings as of March 31st 2014. There may be fewer than 50 by the end of this grading season.

Thanks for that.
One last question.
If there are 13 divisions at step 6 that don't fully comply there must be 4 divisions that do.
Northern League,Midland League and North West Counties League i would have thought plus one other.
Can anyone confirm who the 4 are?

It's got to be the NCEL

The NCEL sounds right. They relegated Handsworth FC in the season they won Division One due to grading. You have to assume they were the only club without the grade for that to happen.

It depends on how strict an interpretation of the FA rules/regs the inspectors have!

Don't think all in the Midland step 6 would meet the grade can think of a couple of their clubs at Step 5 that would struggle with Step 6 grade

Maybe ECL all meet the grade

Worsbrough Bridge. Do not play in the FA Cup and when I asked their Chairman about it he said it was because they have a three sided ground. Perhaps one of our hoppers knows more.

The Chairman also said they had been assured, as founder members, they could remain in the league but if ever relegated they would not be readmitted.

Off course this was when leagues ran their own affairs so what the current position is I wouldn't know.

People in the past have claimed every EMCL club has/had a G grade whilst in the league but I will leave it to others to comment if appropriate.

You only need a two sided ground to get a grade 'G' and enter the FA Cup.
You can even have a three sided ground in the Conference Premier.

I am simply reporting what I was told and the fact remains they do not enter the Cup but do play in the vase.

As well as League 1 & 2, just ask Bournemouth (prior to their Championship promotion) & Oxford United. Watford's Vicarage Road was essentially 3 for a number of years prior to this season.

I know you are. I've also been told things by club officials that aren't correct, including at my own club.

More likely reason why Worsborough Bridge don't enter the FA Cup is that they usually don't finish high enough in the league to gain entry...

They don't even apply. According to FCHD they've only entered it once since 1980 and that was as Worsbrough Bridge Miners Welfare. That's well before grading rules came into force.

My records go back to 1984/85. Since then they have never played in the Cup and only missed the Vase in 85/86 and 88/89. Not proof I grant you but pretty strong evidence of not having a G grade I think you would agree.

No. Having to have a G grade to play in the FA Cup only came in in 2012. Before then, if your ground was good enough for the Vase it was basically good enough for the Cup.
They also played in the FA Cup in 2002-03.
