No one has to put up with 24 club divisions, no one has to go to all of the games. But can you show me details of all the clubs at levels 2-5 who are playing three games per week? Gateshead, Braintree & Halifax have pitch issues, but the world can't revolve around them. The average level 2-5 club plays 52/53 games per season, that's four games every three weeks. that's not excessive. The number is even lower at level 6. We (Stortford) take the county cup reasonably seriously (we play in two, we've 4 winners and 2 runners-up medals in the 3.5 years Stringer's been in charge) but the majority of our fans still aren't interested.
The issue isn't how many games level 6 upwards play, it's below that level. 22 clubs at level 7 and 20 at level 8 would be more than enough.

why should a supporter put up with 24 club divisions? at the end of the season, clubs are playing three times a week just to catch up on matches, and the paying fan is served up with second rate soccer! No, bring in a 20 club maximum. If clubs want extra fixtures, they can always enter a cup, breathe life into what maybe a dead end of season, and give their fans something to cheer about instead of moaning about their players looking knackered!

But who actually wants 20 clubs leagues.
The FALC? No clearly not because the leagues control the FALC.
Is it the clubs? I do not recall great opposition to 22/24 team leagues at any of the AGMs.
The fans? Where is there any evidence that they could care less. Ask the average fan how many teams are in his clubs league and half of them would not even know.
I think because you take a keen interest in the workings of football you believe that everyone does. They don't.

Re: [Unicorn] Essex question [In reply to] Can't Post or

The main problem arises at step 5 if a league plays 40 or 42 and in the odd case 44 then a club or three has a good Cup and Vase run and the league is one of those that runs a multitude of cups including a Supplementary Losers Cup for Losers in the First 3 Rounds of the Unrequired Presidents Floodlight Cup all of which take priority over league games. And then of course insists all games should be played by April 24th.
