The 2014-15 Non-League Prediction League Can't Post or Reply Privately

ROLL-UP! COME JOIN-IN. THIS SITE'S VERY OWN PREDICTION LEAGUE GAME

NLM's annual prediction-fest is starting up again very soon and I encourage all of you, both old and new to come and join in the fun. Entry is FREE, and there are several modest prizes to be won!

You can find the main page at http://www.nlpl.co.uk/...?lid=4&cmd=table and just follow the simple instructions to register your name/team.

It's dead easy to play: Here's the low-down on scoring Points ~

You earn 1Pt. for correct prediction of H/D/A result.
You earn 1Pt. for correct prediction of goal-difference between the two teams (obviously 'right-way-around in H/A's!).
You earn 1Pt. for each correct prediction of H-score &/or A-score (Max: 2 Pts.)
You earn 1Pt. for spot-on prediction bonus.

This gives a maximum yield of 5Pts. - for the 'Perfect Prediction'.

Otherwise ~

Correct H/D/A + one correct goals-scored earns 2Pts. -as does -
Correct H/D/A + correct goal-difference, but no correct goals-scored
Correct H/D/A alone gets 1Pt. -as will -
Correct H-score or A-score, without H/D/A or GD being correct.

We'll choose approx. two dozen regular matches for you each game-Week, drawn from Steps One thru' Six in the main part, inc. lots of Cup/Trophy/Vase matches.

We expect to set a total of around 1200 predictions for you to make over the whole season! But we'll accept as 'serious-players'; i.e. those aiming to win one of our (minimum of) five small prizes; anyone who ends up completing just 60% of the total number of fixtures come the end of the final week of the season.

However, if even that sounds daunting, by all means set up your own private sub-leagues where you and pals can pick and choose subsets of the main list to stick to - with as many or as few fixtures as desired.

Names/Teams are placed in a league table, the order determined by most points first and secondarily by 'goal difference'.

"How," I hear you say, "does goal difference get calculated?".

Basically the GF/GA values you achieve are derived from 'A SECRET FORMULA' (lol!) which is based on 'scoring GF by correct prediction of exact numbers of goals scored by each individual team in a fixture' & 'scoring GA by counting how-far-off your prediction of exact numbers of goals scored by each individual team in a fixture are'
Naturally 'pure' GAs massively outnumber pure GFs, hence the application of 'THE SECRET FORMULA' mentioned above, which reduces that humongous difference and thus gives the League Table a more 'jolly' look!
GF/GA values only accumulate slowly and are always rounded to the nearest integer. 'THE SECRET FORMULA' contains only 'multipliers', no square roots or logs, so it always shows a 'pure' difference between GF/GA values, subject to roundings.

For those SERIOUS COMPETITORS (the ones aiming to win prizes), there's an alternative 'simple' league table available (under the 'statistics' button) - which ranks all players by their average points-per-game record - and is the real skill monitor.

It is from the STATISTICS table, that we determine our prize-winners.
Unless I can obtain a better sponsorship deal for the 2014-15 season, the prizes for 1st. - 5th. respectively, will be vouchers for 25, 20, 15, 10 & 5 from a top online football publications Company.

*** NB *** THIS SEASON, WE'RE HOPING TO GET SPONSORSHIP TO INCREASE PRIZE VALUES & NUMBERS! SO, IF YOU KNOW ANYONE WILLING TO SPARE A COUPLE OF 100s FOR A BIT OF SPONSORSHIP, I WANT TO KNOW!

To help putative sponsors to decide to commit, let's really, really get news of this competition out there. You never know, if we show high enough numbers, it may be possible to get more than one sponsor on board... which leads me to thoughts of extra prizes for things like 'weekly/monthly winners', 'wooden spoon', 'best GD outside main prize winners', etc.

Get on Forums, NL Groups, etc. with our sign-up details (always ask Admins/Mods permission first), and get your family, friends and work colleagues interested - you can always challenge them in your own private mini-league!

Hoping for a hundred or more of you to sign up.

PRIVATE LEAGUES

Even if you find the idea of making 1200 predictions in our Main Game; winner determined by your PPG average; a bit daunting, there's no reason at all why you couldn't enjoy participation with a much reduced number of predictions in your own Private League, hosted within the game!

When you set up a Private League you are 'in charge' of who can join it and can 'pick' the fixtures from our Main Game list that you wish to compete for.
We usually select 24 fixtures per week, spread over all of the Leagues represented at Steps 1 to 6 in the Pyramid, arranged so that most of the Leagues are represented with an average of one fixture per week.
For Steps 1 to 4 that average is so for each and every Division, however at Steps 5 & 6, we instead treat each League as if it were but one Division.

This means that for your own Private League purposes, you can easily choose to limit the fixtures which you select to play along the lines of 'Just Conference South & SWP Premier Division' say, or maybe 'All Step 4' or even 'fixtures with teams called United in them' - and still be guaranteed a 'sensible' spread of fixtures to play with each and every week.

Ideal for 'family PLs or 'drinking-buddy' PLs or 'SWP Premier Division team supporters' PLs or 'you name it' PLs

The choice is entirely yours!

If you've played in TK's/NLM's Non-League Prediction League games with us before in any of our Seven! previous seasons we'd love to see you again. If you've never joined in with us before, we'd be most pleased to bid you welcome!

Do remember that with PLs you DON'T HAVE TO predict all of our fixtures (which we DO understand, is a mountainous task!), just the cross-section of those that we offer that you are comfortable with.

If you decide to enter a PL and fancy a bash at the Main Game too, that's great - go for it! But if you do do that, please be sure to register two separate entries - one for each.

The NLPL GAME has been updated for the new season coming - but ALL players NEED TO re-register for the "AGF 2014-15" game on their profile page. Tx.

The first competitive fixtures in this season's Game occur tomorrow!

Don't get left behind right from the very start!

Remember: you need to register on your Profile Page for the 2014-15 game ~ using the tick-box about half-way down it.

That's the only thing needed - you don't have to create a new user account, or anything tedious at all ~ just tick the box!

PS - don't forget either to set your default-score for the season; also on your Profile Page; and remember to go straight to 'My Missing Fixtures' and there press 'Predict', so that every fixture & fixture-blank we've input to date will carry your default! You should do this regularly thru'out the season too - to catch any extra fixtures we later emplace.

Please be aware that I'm currently in hospital following a medical 'error' at A&E on Fri/Sat which has resulted in my losing the left leg above the knee... an almighty shock, and something that I've only just begun to recover from as of this afternoon really!
