Tom Hark by the Piranhas.

No doubt being played as a goal goes in at a ground somewhere.

Saw them live pre 1992. If only we knew then what we know now ...

Just because you're paranoid, it doesn't mean they're not out to get you.

And this one.

A song about Wolves player Peter Knowles who quit football to be a christian, exactly why you cant be Christian and play football the song fails to explain.

His brother Cyril also had a song about him, 'Nice one Cyril' by the Cockerel Chorus. That must be unique.

Have just bought off of Amazon for 11 a vinyl copy of the LP...

'The English Disease' by Barmy Army
(released by On-U Sound Records in October 1989)

I vaguely remember it at the time, but then heard Steve Lamacq play a track on 6Music before Christmas that had a clip of vocals from Alan Ball grumbling about a Portsmouth loss to high-tempo backing beat.

The tracks are:

1. Leroy's Boots
2. Sharp As A Needle
3. Stadium Rock
4. Bobby Just Can't Win
5. Psycho And The Wombles Of Div.1
6. Brian Clout
7. Devo
8. Mind The Gap
9. Civil Liberty
10. Que Sera Sera

Looking forward to listening to this when I get home tonight. Anyone else got this in their collection?

Doncaster Rovers fans produced a version of Tony Christie's Is This The Way To Amarillo called Is This The Way To Hammer Villa, after beating Aston Villa in a LC tie in 2005.

Can't put a year on these, but:

'Hey Jude' at Griffin Park (the infinite chorus of 'Brentford').

Shadows greatest hits on endless loop at Christie Park, Morecambe. 'Wonderful Land' sticks in my mind for some reason.

Have suggested Iron Maiden's '666 -Number of the Beast' at Eastleigh but for some reason they don't want to know Wink

If you're going to/been to a Hampshire Premier League match, I'd really appreciate you filling in a questionnaire - available in the Groundhopping/General section, or just PM me for a copy. Thanks.

"Sharp As A Needle" made John Peel's Festive Fifty one year. I got major respect points from one of the younger guys in our office more years ago than I care to remember now - he used to bring in lots of obscure music to play and when he waved the CD of this I instantly asked if it had "Sharp As A Needle" on it and struck him dumb with astonishment that I'd heard of Barmy Army!

As far as I remember the album, it's lots of electro beats with some football commentary/crowd noise placed over the top

On the new St.Etienne album 'Home Counties', there is a short track called 'Sports Report' with the lyrics...

"Ryman Division One South...

Carshalton Athletic six... Chatham Town one...

Chipstead against Ramsgate... match postponed..."

The date of that report was 14th January 2017. Tommy Bradford scored 4 for Carshalton that day and you and myself were sampling the ale houses of Stony Stratford before their game with Yardley Gobion!!

I've just had a quick scan through the WDYG thread for 14th January in the hope that a Kempsterite might have actually been at Carshalton that day to witness musical history (it was a wet day, after all, and CAFC have a plastic pitch). But unfortunately not. The closest any of us reportedly got to the Isthmian League that day was ARL of this parish. who attended Great Wakering Rovers 0 Dereham Town 5 in the Ryman Div.1 North.
