Ashers mentioned on WDYG he was filling in the form to get compo from EasyJet, good luck is what I say. They'll use every excuse around to get out of it. I turned up in Samara 16 hours late (didn't bother me as I had nothing much to do and enjoyed the comfy hotel for the night, but they didn't know that). Finnair came out with some ridiculous excuse, so if a proper airline like that refuse to pay, doubt Ashers will get much joy out of EasyJet. I've left my claim in the hands of a no win no fee solicitor.

Looks like the no win no fee is the way to go, yes they take 40% but I'd rather have 60% of 400 euros than 100% of nothing. Finnair just totally ignored my requests for what I was owed. So if a company like Finnair treat their customers like this, I can only assume the low cost boys are worse.

I would certainly expect better from a company in the Oneworld alliance. I have only used them once ( to Helsinki) and had problems that were explained away by doing what most travel companies do and blame someone else!!

That wasn't my experience - see post 119.

Never had a problem with easyJet except for the odd 2-3 hours meal voucher here and there. I just gave up with Blue Air, Ryanair and another whose name escapes me, but admittedly that was in he days before the current laws, so in future I'd be more hopeful.

You can wave goodbye to compensation, legislated for by the EU, when we turn our back on them next year.

Another Brexit bonus.

Big Deal, it's ridiculous to keep filling the skies with more and more planes on more and more routes at increasingly lower prices and expect a perfect service....we live in an imperfect world. Accept it!

The remaining EU27 will continue to be protected. Only in Brexit Britain will Michael O'Leary and suchlike be rubbing their hands at the thought of higher profits at the expense of travellers.

Not sure any extra profits will be noticed by him.....Have you seen his published trading figures?
He is minted and getting more minted by the minute.....despite cancelled flights, striking pilots etc.

If you don't want O'Leary to profit from you don't use his services.

Re: [Yatesman] Budget Airlines [In reply to] Can't Post or Reply Privately

Flight to Samara (via Helsinki) with Finnair 17/8/17, didn't make the connection so overall I was delayed 16 hours, this actually did me a favour as where I was heading for in Russia was a bit of a dump and a quality hotel for the night in Helsinki was lovely, certainly more enjoyable than a Friday in Togliatti, but they didn't know that.
I asked for compo and they said it wasn't their fault. Went on a no win no fee thingy, and I eventually got my money today.
Total compo 400 euros
Their commission 140 euros
Legal fee 60 euros
So I ended up with 200 euros
But from the emails I got from them, they certainly appeared to earn their money, some of these airlines just wont budge.
Yes, a long time to wait, but worth waiting for.
Now where can I get to for 200 euros?

Is there any reason people do currency exchanges at airports in the current climate ? Gotta be madness in the extreme and don't get me started on airside shops that sell suitcases etc. Do these companies actually pay rent and employ staff to sit around all day doing nothing all day and pay them for it?

It's usually business customers using the currency exchanges as it's not their own money plus naive people who don't know how much they are being ripped off by leaving it to last minute to exchange at airport.

I keep some money on a stored value card called Revolut.
It is operated from my phone where I can change currencies at real rates. (For example, if I changed 10 to Euros and back at this moment in time, I would come up even, or within one penny of it).
There is a physical card and a vitual one, (i.e. on the phone only). Every transaction is immediately notified to my phone - meaning quick notice if you lose the card.
I can also transfer money instantly into the account from my UK bank, it takes me around 24 hours to transfer in from the French account. Both systems are without fee.

It has some limitations, particularly a limit on amount of cash you can withdraw at an ATM (per month) without fee. Hence, I avoid using it for cash unless I am leaving the UK or Euro zones (as I have a card for each).

They incentify sign ups, so please PM me if you want this one. I know one or two banks in the UK have cards with much better rates for transfer than the standard high street bank
