Not from Bellshill.

Too many questions focusing on the location/name of this outfit and not enough on the why......

We know that
they played between WW2 and 2000
They are not known for a one-off game
Their suffix is not Celtic, Wanderers or United
They are indelibly linked with Celtic, which is the base that was within 5 miles of the M8
They are named after somewhere else which is east of the M73/M74 and more than 7 miles west of Blackburn, though whether they actually had any connection with this place is a moot point
They never played in a recognised league
They never had a "home" ground
They didn't play for charitable reasons, rather the opposite
They were either a charity/exhibition/representative team as established early on
This didn't involve an exhibition game against a team from overseas
No women involved and we are talking about 11 a side mens football

Quite correct - the timeframe had already been narrowed to 1946-1989

The answer to your Q would be a yes. Got there?

At last...............BACK OF THE NET!!!!!!!!!!!

The barely-credible story of up to 9 Celtic players donning wigs, false sideburns and make-up to compete in summer cup football in Moville, County Donegal in the summer of 1964 (maybe 1963 as well), not long after the abolition of the minimum wage, and the £2,000 prize money was not to be sniffed at - a not-inconsiderable sum in those days.
I have hazy memories of attending Buncrana Cup Finals round the same time, and there would be thousands at some of these games - look at the crowd in nearby Moville in the articles attached.
This was all covered in the current edition of When Saturday Comes which obviously none of our contestants have read yet. It's a fantastic story which should be made into a film.....well done Chris, over to you.
