G) A shot at Steve Buckner refereeing The 1990 W/C qualifier between El salvador & Netherland Antillies. Probably his last game as a football referee before retirement. Obviously better known for his cricketing umpire duties.

DRS on this one........finger on the red button...........tick frigging tock...........OUT !!!!!!!

A favourite quiz question, and currently topical with The Ashes umpires in the firing line - Steve Bucknor is the only man ever to officiate at World Cup level at both cricket and football; he only took control of one football international, being the WC qualifier mentioned which was in October 1988.

Good review there Chris. You're next man in..........

Used to follow cricket a lot more than I do now and always thought Buckner was a top class umpire. Seemed to lose the plot completely when he had one horrendous series umpiring in The India v Australia tests in 2008. Must have been also a decent football referee also in his time.
