Leicestershire Senior League 2013/14 Can't Post or Reply Privately

At a meeting of the Leicestershire Senior League and Leicestershire Football Combination on Tuesday evening it was decided to expand the League to 35 clubs, resulting in two divisions of 18 and 17 teams.
Seven Step 6 clubs currently with sides also in the Leicestershire Football Combination, applied to join the LSL and they have been placed in Division 1. This is in addition to the two promoted sides Anstey Town and Houghton Rangers plus Heather St Johns Res and Long Clawson from the Grantham League.

It was agreed that there would be no relegation from the LSL Premier Division [at the end of 2012/13] and the first 5 clubs in Division 1 [at the end of 2012/13] would be elevated to the Premier Division (the top two as of right of promotion). Stapenhill are promoted to the EMCL under FA regulations that allow for sides down to 5th place to be promoted.

The full list of teams for Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division is:
  • Rothley Imps
  • Caterpillar
  • Kirby Muxloe Res
  • Ashby Ivanhoe
  • Sileby Town
  • Highfield Rangers
  • Cottesmore Amateurs
  • Dunton & Broughton
  • Desford
  • Birstall United
  • Sileby Saints
  • Saffron Dynamo
  • FC GNG
  • Allexton & New Parks
  • Friar Lane & Epworth
  • Shepshed Dynamo Res
  • Melton Mowbray
  • Earl Shilton Albion

Really good news to see them expand back up to nearly full complement for the first time since the EMCL was formed. Just a shame so many are reserve teams.

The only side that I was told that wanted to join the LSL from the Grantham League was the C.K. Dons, and this came from the Dons secretary / manager Jeremy Hill. I have no idea as to whether they have moved from Croxton Kerrial to Long Clawson and changed their name in the process.

I e-mailed Jeremy Hill of the CK Dons about their application to the LSL and his reply clarifies the situation.

"Hi Rob

We have been accepted pending some ground improvements. To stay at Croxton we had to fit a shower in the ref's room at Croxton and put dugouts in. Another option is to move to a ground a few miles away where they have a shower in the ref's room so only need to get dugouts sorted.

I can see why the LSL want that as Prem is Step 7 but Div 1 i don't think is graded as such. Was hoping to have a season to complete this while we competed in the LSL but they haven't been so accomodating.

We have until the end of June to resign from the Grantham league so going through our options and hope to have a decision made by next week. LSL have included us in their constitution but i think they called us Long Clawson by mistake."

I note Houghton Rangers (Leicester and District League Champions) are omitted from constitution of that league for 2013-14 (see http://full-time.thefa.com/...lectedLeague=6628735) so have possibly joined the county league.

Tim,

Castle Donington Town have joined the North Leicestershire League, and I heard from someone at work the other day that Narborough & Littlethorpe had folded.

Castle Donington Town resigned before the AGM and have joined Division One of the North Leicestershire League - a two level drop.

If the above is true - then it would appear that Narborough & Littlethorpe have folded - as they are not in the NLL or the Leicester & District League.

I have just got confirmation on where the CK Dons will be playing their home games this coming season, with the following taken from an e-mail from Jez Hill of the Dons...

"We decided to play our home games at Skillington (NG33 5EY) for a season while we try and improve the facilities at Croxton.

We have built wooden dugouts that we will be able to move to Croxton next summer. Skillington has decent facilities and a shower for the referee so that was the best place to be for a year."

It would seem that Castle Donington Town can't make their minds up as they only joined the LSL last season from the Midlands Regional Alliance!

N&L don't appear in either the North Leicestershire League or the Leicester & District League for the new season. It's a real shame, for anyone growing up and playing football in Leicestershire, they surely would have encountered N&L at some point along the way. Hopefully they are keeping the youth side going.

Sileby Saints is a funny one, having made big strides forward in the last few years, to suddenly opt for demotion to the North leicestershire league seems odd, but then Thurmaston Town disappeared last season after years of building.

Good to see Asfordby still hanging in there
