Aylesbury & District League 2013/14 Can't Post or

The following was gleaned from the leagues website, minutes of their meeting of 3rd April

"Pond Park Rangers have enquired about joining the League"

"Long Crendon have also enquired about joining the League"

The former appear to be a Sunday side from Chesham but also play in the National Christians Cup. The latter are from the Oxfordshire Senior League and I'm sure they enquired last season.

I'm relieved to see that there is no mention of Hale Leys returning, given that they have struggled on the pitch since joining the SSML last season and in view of the fact that I still haven't done the ground yet.

If you enjoyed Belper United at the weekend Chris then I'm sure you'll love the Hale Leys field. Nothing to do with the fact that they probably won't ever issue if relegated to the Aylesbury League, I'm sure...Crazy

Belper United's ground, although not fully enclosed, at least looks more like a proper ground than that of Hale Leys (which I have seen from the top deck of the Aylesbury-Oxford bus route.)

The ADL after the recent AGM is now up to 58 teams. Long Crendon, Pond Park Rangers and Aylesbury Ex Servicemens join. As do the reserves of Great Milton, Brill Utd, Quainton and possibly Waddesdon. Also coming back are Cuddington although they may be under a new name for the 2013-14 season. Not got the actual make up of the divisions yet.

Explanation Notes
With no exceptional circumstances, divisional format has been carried out according to FA guidelines, and promoted / relegated teams with the exception of those who have resigned, changing divisions.

Pond Park Rangers, Long Crendon, Quainton Reserves, and Great Milton Reserves have been placed in the Divisions they asked for.

FA rules forbid any two teams from the same club being in the same division thus Brill Utd 1st team have been placed in Division 3.

With Cuddington making such a late bid to re-enter the League the Committee are yet to decide on their player sanctions If any, having asked to be demoted.

Finally, the big issue. With several Premier clubs asking could the Division revert back to 11 teams, coupled with the resignation of P&IC 1st team and Aston Park the Promotion of 4 teams into the Premier was necessary. This coupled with the relegation of the bottom two from Division One left only four teams here thus 5 teams were needed to be promoted up from Division Two plus Pond Park Rangers who
requested to be placed here based on their ability.

At this point the Committee would like to apologize to Aylesbury Sports in particular, but by releasing the Divisional Set Up fully two months prior to the commencement of the 2013-14 season the players of the caliber required can be sought and registered. There is no doubt the above will change before the Clubs meeting in August with one side already rumored to be unsure whether they will have a side.

"FA rules forbid any two teams from the same club being in the same division thus Brill Utd 1st team have been placed in Division 3."

Surely this is a league rule rather than an FA one? It certainly doesn't apply in the SAL or the AFC, and I'm sure there have been occasions in the last season or two where clubs in the Crewe & District and the Cumberland County League have had two teams in the same division.

I was intrigued by the above and had a look at last year's table. promoting a side who lost two more games than they won seems a recipe for disaster - and they've acknowledged that - so why do it?

Interesting name change as it brings back memories of the old Rivet Sports who were in the Hellenic League in the 70's. I think they ground they used then is long gone, but while passing through the same area of Aylesbury quite recently, I saw a sign pointing to 'Rivet Sports & Social Club' so perhaps Haydon United use this as their base (hence the name change?) even if they play home games elsewhere in the town.
